The staff was amazing and the location was perfect. The history of the building is really cool. It seems like an update is needed— the lampshades were torn and dingy and the bed was so uncomfortable that neither my husband nor I slept well.

the furniture is pretty old and has a rotten smell. The bedding overall feels clean. good service and prime location

Very nice historic hotel in downtown Carmel steps from the beach. Only problem we found was that the room was a little cold.

Nice place, quaint and comfortable. Staff was great! Restaurant and cafe onsite. Walk to shops and restaurants in Carmel. Quick to 27 mile and Pebble.

My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Pine Inn. Looking forward to coming back.

This was the second time we stayed at this hotel and first time (October 2023) was phenomenal. This time (January 2024), not so great. Our reservation wasn’t in the system; the staff was not in a hurry; front desk person just left us standing there. Finally it was found and we got a tiny room in desperate need of a face lift. Later on we got kicked out of the lobby for having a glass of wine. Too bad really. Different hotel next time.

Prefect location. Clean. And staff is friendly.

Amazing comfortable bed and the best shower pressure ever. The staff was so friendly and accommodating.

Very noisy, every morning at 7 AM garbage trucks wake up everyone.

Really ne to do something about the kitchen ventalator noise and vibration. Also I must say that a desk person was badmouthing someone they had had contact with in back room while we were standing at checkin...

Lost our reservations, was assigned a room outside the main building with narrow steep staircase. Room furniture inside was old interior, poor lighting in all of the rooms. Very disappointed.

There are some house keeping issues Pine Inn may want to check into:1) The toilet does not flush well. You need to keep your hand on the handle in order to completely flush. 2) Room is too hot even the heating system is set at 0 or1. We had to keep the windows open to cool down the room. One of the windows does not stay up/open. Maybe this is the reason the "exit door" around the corner in the hallway is always open to keep the temperature in the hallway cool. 3)There is a horizontal black pipe hooked to the radiator that runs into the floor. It creates loud banging noise from time to time. Our room is above the restaurant's kitchen. We hear the noise bringing the trash out to the dumpster and being pick up by the garbage truck starting at 7:43 am. We can also hear every motorcycle and car driving by and evert conversation by people walking by. This is the second time we stayed at the Pine Inn. We stayed in a newer room and had no noise and no maintenance issues. The staff are very nice. We hope our comments will help the hotel and the future patrons.

Beautiful lobby. Time to spend some bucks and renovate upstairs.

Lobby was beautiful
Bathroom had 1 plug. Shower faucet was very difficult to operate. Bathroom basically very old and non functional. Bed comfortable but heat non functional as heater was not turned on but heat was coming out and it was uncomfortably warm.

This is a good hotel. Excellent on sight restaurant. It's an older hotel but very well maintained. No major complaints other than room was small. Very quiet. No coffee maker in room and you have to walk across the street to the bakery which is no big deal. Unless you absolutely need coffee first thing in the morning due to your caffeine fixation. Anyway. I recommend.

While the Hotel was built in the 1890's, it has plenty of room, clean, and large comfortable bed. T he ocean view is absolutely magnificent. The hotel staff is cheerful, professional as well as courteous.

Great experience! Clean, festive and aesthetic lobby. Room amenities not completely up to date but it’s an isolated area so the best around, relatively.

The hotel has perfect location but the rooms are old and small. Bathroom is tiny and outdated. The bed we had was not even a queen size even though we paid for a king sized room online. Not impressed.

We have stayed at the Pine Inn several times. It’s a charming yet funky hotel. Love the location. Bathrooms could use some updating. Staff was terrific.

The property was dated. Had no heat so had to ask for a heater. The bathroom was small and so small. Shower wasn’t great.
It was a great view as we had an ocean view.

There was no parking available and the surrounding area was very busy. I asked the staff if they could offer a discount based on the fact that we had to pay for parking elsewhere and was shot down because “I had booked through a 3rd party.” I didn’t realize that people who use a site like Hotels.com get different treatment. Overview, nice, quiet hotel with a lot of history. Walkable to everything, parking was the only challenge

Lovely little inn in the centre of Carmel. The only comment I would have is the bathrooms are very dated

I liked the location near the beach and shopping, very walkable. I did not like the lack of parking on friday and Saturday night. I did not enjoy the antique/ old/ creaky floors, stairs, bed. I did not like the lack of coffee in room or in lobby. The red lobby with fireplace was perfect for reading a book and warming up.

Great location. Nice staff. Okay, the building is old and the walls are thin. But at the prices they charge, they could/should replace 1/3 of the carpets, do some in-room touch-up painting, and have in-room coffee machines or at least free coffee in the lobby. Felt ripped off and for very petty stuff.

The Pine Inn has a lot of interesting history. The lobby is decorated in a Victorian style and is charming. Our room could use updating. Unfortunately, this hotel doesn’t have a coffee bar and you’re not allowed to drink wine in the common areas, which would have been nice to be able to sit by the fire and enjoy a glass.

The Pine Inn location is wonderful and the staff is SO nice. The lobby is a time trip, but fun and I enjoyed ending my evening by the fireplace reading. The rooms are very tired. Even though there are some touches of updates (charging unit that has USB ports, key card entry), it still shows it's age. Lots of scuff marks, noticeable wear and tear, but clean. The bathroom was clean and nice, but the rain showerhead has very little pressure - I would never have been able to thoroughly rinse my hair in the drizzle; I had to use the bathtub nozzle. Unfortunately my bed was really uncomfortable. The mattress was quite lumpy.
If I was here for pleasure rather than work and had to pay out of my pocket, I would have been very disappointed.

Loved our 2 queen room on the upper floor
From a little seating area outside of our room, you could see the sun set over the Pacific. We were traveling with our teens and it was spacious enough for both of us. Nice staff! Loved the Andes mints on our pillows. Only complaints - there's not enough parking for every room, we arrived around 5pm and had to find street parking and then move our car according to the parking restrictions. Also, loud trucks (sounded like garbage trucks) rumbled down the street right below our room around 7-8am on a Sunday morning.

Very old hotel…well preserved and maintained. VERY CLEAN. Rooms are small and no elevator on property (that we found). Parking is a major issues as the have 1/4 of the parking spots in their lot as they do rooms.
Staff was friendly and hotel is definitely a local icon, but not for everyone.

We enjoyed this boutique hotel very much. Amazing location in the heart of Carmel. The hostess who checked us in had terrific recommendations for restaurants, etc. in the town, and indeed these selections were superb. Many thanks! We'll be back again.

This is a very beautiful hotel that is in the middle of a wonderful town that is a secret gem in California. The staff was very friendly and helpful above and beyond. Can’t wait till next time.

We really enjoyed staying at Pine Inn for the unique experience it offers! Some people may be out of place in this historical and beautiful Spanish turn of the century Inn which was built in 1889.
We felt right at home and would definitely return in the future!
The only thing which made our stay difficult, is that I am disabled and there are no elevators. Our room with a beautiful Carmel by the Sea view, was difficult to access and traverse the stairs with luggage.
My husband struggled witht he stairs as well and next time would request a room on the lower floors.
The restaurant, Il Fornaio, as a gem and the food was delectable!
Pine Inn is right in the middle of the CArmel Strip and adjacent to all shopping adventures as well as restauratns and easy, close access to the beach!
I want to point out, Gilbert at the Front Desk was absolutley amazing in meeting all of our needs, answering all of our questions and making our stay as special as possible! Professional, courteous and very personable!
Overall the stay at Pine Inn was exceptional and we would definitely return and recommend to our friends and family!
