Hofsas House Hotel

Close to center of Carmel, but far enough away to be quiet without lots of foot traffic. Staff was friendly, bed was comfy, place was clean and comfortable, had tons of space, mini kitchen, continental breakfast was perfect to take back to our room to enjoy the view on our balcony. Second stay. Would stay again.

Somewhat dated, but that added to the charm!

I had a great stay at Hofsas House in Carmel-by-the-Sea! I was able to check in around 12 PM since my room was already ready, which was a nice bonus! They also offer luggage storage in case your room isn’t ready when you arrive. The room had a bit of a 90s-style interior, but I honestly didn’t mind it at all! The room had a TV (I did not personally use). Both the room and bathroom were very clean. I stayed in a queen room, which was the perfect size for two people. One of my favorite parts was being able to see the ocean and watch the sunrise and sunset right from my window! The location was perfect! It’s about a 5-minute walk straight downhill to Ocean Avenue, where you’ll find plenty of shops and restaurants, and about a 15–20-minute walk to the beach. It’s also only about a 10-minute drive to the airport, Point Lobos, Pebble Beach, and downtown Monterey, making it a great central location for exploring the area! Every staff member I encountered was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They offer breakfast, although I never got around to trying it. There’s also a pool and sauna available for guests to use at no additional cost! Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at Hofsas House! It was clean, comfortable, conveniently located, and had everything I needed. I would definitely stay here again the next time I’m in Carmel!

Very comfortable hotel, super attentive staff, breakfast served daily (the blueberry muffin is fantastic!), and excellent location (just a few blocks from Ocean Avenue).

Location is great! You can walk right down the street to Ocean ave to all the great restaurants & shops.

It wasn’t what it used to be. The “ breakfast “ use to be delicious Scandinavian pastries and fresh! This time they were stale regular muffins & danishes. Not at all like before! The room we stayed in had old beat up furniture. When we stayed previously the furniture looked vintage but was in good condition.
