The staff were excellent. They helped us to book tours, and even went out of their way to switch out the sofa bed for a double bed so it‘s more comfortable for me. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay there.
I would have loved a door between the living room and the bedroom. Also, the bathroom offers only limited privacy, as there‘s no real door.

The breakfast had a half-dozen choices, with fruit prominently on offer. The dining room has an epic view! Lovely people, great service, and the beds were comfortable. It's a 10-minute walk to the main part of town, quite steep coming back. And it's easy to get to the local features.
Not a lot of natural light coming into the room. That's it!

The room and bathroom are spacious, and part of the staff is friendly. They kindly accommodated our request to have a third bed in our room, as we thought we had booked a triple room with three separate beds, and they organised transfers to and from Monteverde for us.
Of course, we did not expect a luxury resort, but we found the place in need of some basic improvements. The beds are not comfortable and the bed sheets are made of some sort of synthetic material which is quite unpleasant. The mattress cover too is in a plastic material, so every time one moves, it makes a lot of noise. Both bedsheets and towels look very tired (I almost made a hole in one of the towel while using it to dry myself!) and one of our duvet had some cuts, so the stuffing was coming out. There were no shelves or wardrobe in our room, just two chairs for a triple bedroom and two hooks, which was clearly insufficient, especially if you spend 4 nights there, as we did. We also did not like the presence of dogs roaming freely in the building, even where breakfast is served and cooked. Our room (room 4, on the first floor) was pretty noisy, as it shares one wall with the kitchen, so we were always woken up by the noise of chopping and pans moved no later than 6:30. The breakfast is good, although not particularly generous and definitely inconsistent (we noticed that some guests might have avocados with their casados, others do not ...). It is not very flexible to have to choose what you want and at what time you want it the night before, and if you want tea or coffee you are not offered a glass of juice, which sounds a bit odd in a place like Costa Rica and considering the cost of the place. This is a lodge with some potential, but it needs some revamp (broken tiles everywhere give a feeling of neglect, for instance) and to be run with more care. It did not help that one of the staff members always seemed annoyed when we asked her something.
