We loved this place… the neighborhood was very nice .. everything you needed is right there… cute little coffee shop/ bookstore two doors down… you can grab fruit from the market across the street
I love that the place is keyless .. its stairs only that maybe difficult for some guest… I’d definitely book again.. and bring my family… this trip was for business…
Wish you could have early check in options or late check out…
Regardless it was a lovely stay

The room was smaller than expected but it was clean and comfy. We checked in after 11 pm and twice there was a noise complaint brought against us. We were only watching a movie, and are very respectful people. It felt unfair. Kind of put me off for the night to be honest. The security guard treated me like I was having a party. Not cool.

The Westlake is a gem in it's neighborhood. You can tell that the area is up & coming with lots of local shops. Originally stay for 4 nights but extended to 2 more as it was a great value.
Each suite is very well layout and design. Love that each has it's own personality and fun names. My first suite had a full kitchen and my second suite only had a kitchenette. All had new, stainless steel appliances, coffee machine, plates, cups, etc... Beds very comfy and cozy. The showers have double rainfall shower heads!
Loved that they have a vintage arcade machine loaded up with all the classic games from the 80s & 90s.
As a seasoned traveller, I appreciated that check-in was all done online. I received my confirmation and entry codes promptly, so everything was seamless. This may not work for everyone.
My only reservation I have is that there is club right downstairs that is only open Fridays & Saturdays. They did a very good job sound proofing the suites but once the patrons left and were on the streets. You can hear EVERYTHING! Lucky for me I always bring earplugs when I travel.

Noir Suite was great and had everything I needed, including pans and pots to cook simple breakfast.

A party took place in the suite next to us on my 2nd night stay. They had a security guard on hand who confronted the guest and when the party continued the security guard took no further action. This party had several guests and the music filled the entire floor of the building. Party guests came and went from the suite all night until approx. 5am.
When I emailed the hotel that same night at 3am for answers (and some form of compensation) they did not reply. They did send me an automated Google review request. After replying to this request they followed up with this several days later:
“Hi,
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and discomfort you experienced during your stay. We understand how important a peaceful environment is for a good night's rest, and we're truly sorry that the neighboring suite disrupted your sleep.
We'd like to express our concern and assure you that we take such matters seriously. We've investigated the issue, and it appears that our security guard was on site during the reported disturbance. We understand that this doesn't change the impact it had on your experience, and for that, we are genuinely sorry.
While we cannot offer a reimbursement for this specific incident, please know that we value your feedback and are committed to addressing any concerns to improve our guests' experiences in the future.”
Translation: We own that it’s our fault but we aren’t willing to make it right. I paid $778 total for two nights stay! Terrible service!

Over the phone was very rude and disrespectful! Wanted to know about how things worked but was super rude over the phone like I was interrupting her lunch break or something ! Great place but don’t bother calling to ask about anything!!

We had stayed at the Bye, Felicia Suite over New Years.
It was located in a nice location, very close to shops and restaurants. The interior design was very interesting. Their bathroom is gorgeous, amazing showers. The beds provided were really comfortable, if you are sleeping in the 2 primary bedrooms.
The suite indicates that it sleeps 8, and technically that is true, but the room with what appears to have 2 murphy beds, when the beds are open, the are so close to the wall, that people will have to step over each other to exit the room, overnight if they have to go to the washroom. The window in the murphy bed room, was off its hinges, so it could not stay open. There is an door that leads to the fire escape in the back, that was completely locked key locked so if there was an emergency there was no way to have an emergency exit.
It smelled like cigarettes when we came in and although they had a purifier because of the windows, we could air out the location
For a place that is supposed to sleep 8, the accommodations inside did not really support that as much, There is only one small coffee table, and one 2-person couch in the living room, and the additional seating from the primary bedroom, does not always support more then 1 person as it was wobbly. There not enough glasses ,mugs or cutlery to support 6 people.
There wasn't really anybody on sight at all, but that may be because of the date, but there were some board games provided, although no space to play.

Overall it was nice. The rooms could be a bit more soundproof, we heard some particularly loud people in the hallway for a while one night. The decor was very different from a regular hotel

It was interesting to be at a place with absolutely no staff, but it worked and the room was great!

The Westlake was excellent. We received information on check-in exactly as promised. Parking spots are tight, not for full size trucks which we thankfully learned beforehand, however parking is free which is a bonus in Downtown Toronto.

This was technically my 3rd stay at TheWestLake airbnb hotel. The last 2 stays were in "The Artist Suite". The hotel is exceptionally clean and very stylish. The beds are THE BEST!! I appreciate the quality of fixtures in the hotel and depending on the room you may get a kitchenette or a microwave, fridge, coffeemaker, and hot water kettle (electric) You need to keep an eye out for the email from the hotel which will give you your front door entry codes, and door keycode. There are many restaurants and a few grocery stores within easy walking distance from your hotel. Ubers will pick you up right by the red telephone booth (and drop you there as well) All in all I am very pleased with all my stays - as evidenced by my return visits to the hotel. If you are new to airbnb it will "feel" different, because no one is coming in daily to make your bed and all, but I really appreciate the sense of privacy, and I make my own bed anyway. :) I recommend TheWestLake 10/10.

I was not told it was a “self check in” hotel in any of the communications. Was stuck outside with no way to get in the building. I had to make three phone calls to have some send me the information. The room was clean but had an intense smell of marijauna.

This place is extremely priced for what you get for two people saying. Parking is for small vehicles only IF you’re lucky to get parking. Basically useless TV. No ice machine. 3 coffee pods , no facecloths , one hand towel , broken bed slats , broken latch on cabinet door , broken swivel egg chair. King size bed in a room so narrow you have to walk sideways to get into bed . Bed side tables so small they barely fit a phone and water bottle.Bathroom so small the toilet paper stand is in the way of getting to the toilet. Sandpaper sheets. Poor lighting. They should have paid more attention to actual needs of travelers than what is supposed to be high end decor. I’ve stayed in much cleaner more functional Super 8 motels!

The property was nice! The room was clean but could still see grime from some previous guests that hadn't been cleaned up. I asked for extra towels and was confirmed prior to arriving, but there were no extra towels left. The biggest challenge is the lack of response from the property! The check-in email was really late and because of other commitments didn't end up checking in until the next day!! I tried following up several times with the property even to address these issues and never got a response (after trying twice). It was really frustrating not being able to get a reply.

good value for money, but rooms are definitely form over function. cleanliness was an issue.

Amazing boutique hotel in a sketchy but up and coming neighbourhood. Strip club downstairs. Close enough to downtown and easily accessible. Free parking is a bonus. Rooms are super cool. Lots of access codes to get in and out but felt safe. Will definitely stay again!

Thank you for having parking for guests. It was a tight spot but grateful to have it. Room was cool and we will be excited to try another one.

Came for a weekend. Unfortunatly lost my internet and was unable to get the codes for entry to the room and was unable to reach anyone directly on the phone. Had drive drive to a restaurant to finally get internet and a text with the 3 codes to get in. Took a few hours. But after all that, the room was nice and clean. Was able to get a parking spot the first night but not the second (only 5 small spots in the back). The upper patio was a nice surprise.

Had an appointment at St Joes and decided to give this place a go. I’m actually happy with the convenience of not having a front desk but this is not for everybody. Trendy room, big shower. Parking in the back was a plus, felt like a safe area of town. Security on site. Lots of shops, restaurants and bars. Will book again in the future.

We had a great stay. We received a welcome email with clear instructions to enter the hotel and our room as well as suggestions for things to do and places to eat that were in the area! I would definitely come back!

My girlfriend and I stayed in the Bad and Boujee suite. Two smart TVs with streaming services. AC worked very well. Patio on the roof. Parking out back. Bed is comfy. My only suggestion, maybe add some soundproofing to the doors to the room. Also 1 of the 3 towels in the room had a stain which was a little off putting. The other 2 towels were clean so wasnt a huge deal. Overall we enjoyed our time and would stay again. Im not a huge fan of the generic rooms that huge hotel chains have so it was nice to see something different.
