Great location in Valletta, and the building itself has real character — traditional tiles, stone walls, high beamed ceilings. The bedroom air conditioning works, and the receptionist listened and took notes when we raised the issues. For a family holiday where you are out most of the day, this would be a pleasant place to stay.

I travel frequently for work, so this is a comparison against a lot of other stays. This review is about the unit at 33 Old Bakery Street specifically. At €194 per night, the apartment was not ready and not properly maintained. • Check-in: we waited an extra hour because the apartment was not ready at the agreed time. • Internet: the apartment Wi-Fi did not work at all. The modem is inside the apartment and showed a fault light; I tried to resolve it myself without success. I reported it during the stay and was simply told to connect to the hotel network instead. Nobody came to look at the modem and it was never fixed. Inside the apartment the hotel signal is usable in one place, the bathroom; otherwise you go down to the lobby, because the stone walls are too thick. I booked an apartment rather than a hotel room specifically so I could work privately on confidential material, and neither a bathroom nor a public lobby is a reasonable place to do that. • Bathroom: the glazed partition is missing a panel, leaving an open gap. Effectively no privacy — something to be aware of if you are not travelling with a partner. • TV: would not stream, only an error message. • Cooling: air conditioning in the bedroom only. The living room still has the pipe holes, drain and connections in the wall, so a unit was there at some point and has been taken out and not replaced. Two of the three ceiling fans do not work, both in the living area. The gap is covered with four standing fans, two per room — a workaround rather than a repair. • Ironing board: listed in the description, but not in the apartment. You have to go down and ask reception for it. If it is advertised as part of the unit, it should be in the unit. • Lighting: several bulbs burnt out, including the bedside lamp. • Kitchen: fully fitted but no kitchen towels provided. • Cleanliness and safety: window sills covered in pigeon droppings, and loose cables left trailing across the floor by the TV.

The location is close to all the interesting historical sites and centre. Pleasent decor in good taste.

The B'fast area is rather small and it was hot and no A/C for a few days, not sure wether this was completly the fault of electrical failure in Valletta. When the Electricity came on, A/ C didn't function for days and we were having a heat!wave! They did supply all the rooms, though with fans. Certainly a nice place to stay but needs tweaking and attention to detail.

The breakfast was very poor… lacked organization and variety. The room was ok, but the bed could be way better and the pillows were terrible. Lacked a hairdryer and mini fridge.
