Die Unterkunft bietet eine schöne Lage, direkt an der Küste. Man findet alles, was man braucht, in der Nähe, überwiegend zu Fuß zu erreichen. 5 Min. Fußweg ist ein Foodtruck Park lokalisiert, die Speisen muss man jedoch mit Bedacht auswählen.
Der große Parkplatz steht ebenfalls kostenfrei zur Verfügung.
Man konnte netterweise Wäsche waschen, was definitiv ein positiver Aspekt des Ganzen war.
Leider konnten wir die Unterkunft nicht sofort finden, weil die auf Booking.com angegebene Adresse, wie auch die Adresse in einer persönlichen Nachricht, nicht komplett war. Somit mussten wir erst telefonieren, bevor wir die Apartments finden konnten.
In der Unterkunft sind die Gäste so ziemlich auf sich alleine gestellt, bedeutet keine Reinigung, keine weiteren Dienste, keine Ausgehmöglichkeiten auf dem Hotelgelände. Ich persönlich würde mir sehr gerne einen mindestens einmaligen Handtuchwechsel und Bodenreinigung wünschen.
Das nächste Thema ist der Schlafbereich. Das offene Fenster ließ sich nicht zumachen, dadurch hörte man die Straße. Es war so dermaßen warm und stickig im Schlafzimmer (keine Klimaanlage, nur Ventilator auf dem Decke), dass wir zügig in den Wohnbereich wechselten. Die Klimaanlage hat dort (im Wohnbereich) zwar gut funktioniert, war aber unheimlich laut, so dass diese nachts ebenso ausbleiben sollte. Schlafen auf der Couch war auch so eine semi Experience. Muss nicht sein. Und schon mal gar nicht für dieses Geld.

🌴 What I liked
The interior was pleasant and spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and a great location — just a short walk from the beach. The resort has its own pool (though to be fair, most of them in the area do).
The garden and surroundings were well-maintained, green, and very clean. Both the apartment and the entire resort area are completely non-smoking, which was a big plus for us.
I believe all units have balconies, and they all face the ocean — the view was absolutely beautiful.
We even saw a Hawaiian monk seal resting on the beach right in front of the resort! 🦭
There was also a plastic water-filtering jug in the kitchen, which came in handy since the tap water was quite chlorinated.
The house rules were extremely strict — the written policy honestly felt a bit threatening, especially regarding cleaning. Despite that, three drawers were full of sand, so it was clear no one had done a proper clean before our arrival.
There were two vacuum cleaners provided: the cordless one didn’t work at all, and the other was a huge, heavy, corded one — not ideal for quick cleaning. It would’ve been much nicer if the cordless one had worked.
The bedroom blind couldn’t be fully closed, and during one particularly windy night, that became annoying enough that we had to move to the living room to sleep.
Price-wise, this stay was about one and a half times more expensive than what we paid on Oahu (Waikiki)for the same length of stay.

The location is fantastic and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. The room itself is generous and has everything you might need for a visit. A great value and comforting place to call home for the week.
Unfortunately, the AC is in the living room and cool air doesn't come in very well to the bedroom. The result is a very cold living room and a fairly warm bedroom (but there is a ceiling fan in the bedroom so that helps with air circulation). We didn't have a problem with this at night but if you sleep hot or need a cold room to sleep in, this doesn't quite fit the bill.

We ALWAYS stay at Papakea. The staff at the front desk is polite, the grounds are well tended to, walkable to grocery and more. Our unit was managed by My Perfect Stays and they make sure everything is top notch and we are well taken care of. Fantastic communication before, during, and after.
