Communal showers and no staff. A lonely and overpriced hotel.

The room was spacious and clean and there was an onsen on site. It was comfortable to sleep in.

There was no mention on the booking listing that the hotel has no staff at reception. It is completely unmanned. This feels a little unsafe to be honest. Before arriving you are sent multiple emails with codes and rules you cannot break, which makes you feel very unwelcome as a guest . Not the friendly, ryokan I had expected and what other local hotels offer. It was a lot of money for one night. It is difficult to find and has many steps from the car park and inside the building which in the dark are a little dangerous. It was not clear from booking that it would be a communal shower. No shower in the room. It was clear there was a shared bathroom. When I called to ask about this the customer service was very rude, dismissive and abrupt. Not in any way helpful or apologetic. I was travelling with an elderly friend and communal showers in this property considering the price should be clearly stated on the booking. I have now read through all the customer reviews on booking.com and see that each time a criticism is made, the hotel responds with something along the lines of ‘Thank you for your feedback we strive to improve in future’ which of course they are not doing. Repeatedly. As you can see, customer reviews go back years and are from people from all over the world. I was really quite disappointed and have now learnt that perhaps, hotels that offer ‘no refund’ pay in full only-usually have some serious shortcomings.

Breathtaking views

The view was absolutely breathtaking. It's worth it for that alone! The room was gorgeous and comfortable (there were two of us in a family room, so we helped ourselves to the extra bedding!). The on-site onsen is lovely for winding down after a day in Hakone, and it was a lovely walk to the southern end of the lake.

I expected yukata to wear down to the onsen, but it's a very minor complaint!

The best thing about this place was the view. The view is AMAZING!! And the 24 onsen was alright.

There’s no one there and it’s a bit overpriced for what you get. Everything is pretty much self service. There is no yukata and if you want a ryokan experience there’s other places nearby that I would recommend
