Nice location with lovely sea view. Old pub with nice & cosy character.
Area with pool table was not accessible.

Room was lovely and clean nothing to much for the staff. Extra heater was provided.
Pillows could do with update and would have loved a cooked breakfast and Internet buffering a lot so watching tv was a bit hit and miss.

I didn’t see any staff but communication was good via messages and arrival was easy
My room was large and airy with tea /coffee facilities
Didn’t have much breakfast but there was a variety of continental
As much as the bed was comfy I didn’t sleep well because the walls were so thin I could hear the person next door talking and snoring ! They could have been in with me

The host is an interesting guy, had a good chat with him. The hotel is in a convenient location for completing the end of the Hadrian's wall walk. The bus stop back to Carlisle is right out front too.
I followed the check in instructions but had to call the host for help - there's an electronic pad that I thought wasn't working, turns out the door is very stiff and you have to put your shoulder into it. Including that kind of information in the check in instructions would be good.
The main thing for me is that the cleanliness standard for the room wasn't good. I saw cobwebs all over the place, stains on the walls in both the bedroom and bathroom, as well as stains on the floor in the bathroom. There were smudges on the mirror and the windows that had gone uncleaned. There was fluff and lint on my bedsheets (which I am confident were clean) but there was just a very haphazard standard of cleaning. It was very much a hostel (not hotel) vibe, like staying at someone's place and they're not great at cleaning up.
