We spent three wonderful days at Villa Messori for our 17th wedding anniversary, and it honestly exceeded all our expectations.
The location is perfect – surrounded by nature, with the forest just behind the villa, yet only a short walk from several restaurants. The terrace has a beautiful view and became one of our favorite places to simply sit, have a glass of wine and enjoy the atmosphere.
Breakfast was absolutely wonderful, served in an incredible setting, with plenty of choice and beautifully prepared. Whatever we asked for, Francesca somehow made it happen.
But what truly made our stay unforgettable was Francesca herself. She is an exceptional host. Her warmth, attention to detail and genuine care for us made us feel completely spoiled during all three days.
One afternoon, she prepared a beautiful little aperitivo for us with Parmesan, fruit and savory snacks, together with a bottle of wine that my husband had chosen with her from the cellar, and brought everything to us on the terrace.
When she found out we were celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary, she made the occasion even more special. She sang “Happy Anniversary” to us and prepared a lovely anniversary cake. One evening, she arranged the sauna and jacuzzi just for us so we could relax, naturally accompanied by another bottle of wine and some snacks.
We also asked her to help us book a nice restaurant for our anniversary dinner – and somehow she managed to surprise us there too, with another cake waiting for us. :)
We even had a couples massage in the garden, surrounded by nature, which was the perfect way to completely switch off and relax.
There are beautiful places to stay, and then there are places where the people make you feel genuinely cared for. Villa Messori was definitely the second kind.
Francesca, thank you for making our anniversary so memorable and for taking such wonderful care of us. We arrived as guests and left feeling that we had been truly spoiled.

Location, ambiance, staff, the welcome, the house, the gardens….everything
There was nothing I didn’t like. Just a few extras in the room, another side table at bed, full length mirror, shelves in bathroom for toiletries, hooks for towels and hairdryer.

Superb location in the beautiful village of Castelvetro; beautiful, clean and comfortable room; amazing breakfast terrace facing the 12th century church; the most exuberant and hospitable host who was so generous with her time and her kindness. We loved the place!

Our stay at Villa Messori Spa was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy and the perfect place to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Francesca and Gianmarco Messori are exceptional hosts who clearly care about every detail. From the moment we arrived, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome, comfortable, and genuinely cared for.
What made our stay especially memorable were the thoughtful touches Francesca added throughout our visit to help celebrate our anniversary. Some were small, some were more elaborate, but each one was so sweet and made us feel truly special. Her kindness and attention to detail turned an already wonderful stay into an unforgettable one.
Breakfast on the second-floor veranda was a delight each morning, featuring an excellent selection of local meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, and baked goods. Everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented.
The Forest Spa was exactly what we needed after busy days of travel. It was peaceful, restorative, and one of the most relaxing experiences of our vacation.
The villa itself is full of character and history, located beside a beautiful historic church and bell tower that add to the unique atmosphere of the property.
As wonderful as the villa is, the location is equally special. Castelvetro di Modena is one of the most charming hilltop towns we have ever visited. The town offers several outstanding restaurants, including a Michelin-recognized establishment, and every meal we enjoyed was exceptional. The quality of the food, service, and hospitality throughout the town was remarkable.
We would return without hesitation and highly recommend Villa Messori Spa to anyone visiting the Modena region. Francesca and Gianmarco created an experience that we will remember for many years to come.
