Wonderful resort full of thoughtful amenities in a beautiful setting.

The concierge desk wasn't staffed in the morning around 9 am, and I was asked by another staff member to wait, as that staff member also told me that the concierge was the only place in the hotel knowledgeable about lost and found items. After waiting for more than 10 minutes, I asked the staff again, and they then gave me a phone number for the concierge. When I called the concierge, I was told that the sunhat we had forgotten at a hotel restaurant was not not found; apparently, it was not turned in by the restaurant. Service in general at the hotel was very slow and unattentive, including at the restaurant and at check-in and check-out. Signage was poor, so it was hard to find any amenities or restaurants or even the breakfast. The Victorian King room seemed overpriecd and had only windows in the sitting area, looking over the passenger loading area (without any view of the ocean), and had no windows in the bedroom area or bathroom. It also had a bad step between the sitting area and the bedroom area which made me trip. We then put "warning pillows" there as the carpeting made the step blend in. The posted firepit event was not available to us when we showed up as we were told at the firepit that we hadn't made a reservation, which we didn't realize we had to make as hotelguests, as no one had brought it up at check-in. Parking, unloading, and dealing with the luggage were all extremely complicated and time-consuming. I don't think we will be back.

The major amenity is/was the ocean. Unfortunately, it was contaminated by sewage from Tijuana Mexico. With the inability to even wade, much less have skin touch the wet beach, this amenity's value was reduced substantially. NO MENTION OF THIS FROM THE HOTE (EITHER IN ADVANCE NOR AT THE CHECK IN), DESPITE THIS APPARENTLY BEING A FREQUENT PROBLEM. NO OFFER TO COMPENSATE FOR THE extraordinarily room rates, either. VISITORS: BEWARE!!!! PAYING NEARLY $1,000 PER ROOM PER NIGHT WITHOUT THE AVAILABILITY OF THE BEACH!!

Front desk folks accommodated my request every time we requested changes…very helpful staff, specially Sylvia. Worth every $ we spent, great stay in all aspects🙏
