THE FLAG Hotel Marbella Estepona - Adults Recommended

Amazing hotel, helpful staff, lovely facilities and amazing food!

Having returned from The FLAG in mid-June, following a 4 day stay, I can wholeheartedly state that it is an excellent hotel and the staff are very pleasant and professional. To improve, I would suggest that the coffee pods in the rooms are refreshed without incurring a charge, since 2 pods is insufficient for coffee lovers. Secondly and perhaps most importantly, I booked and twice confirmed a transfer, to and from the Flag to Malaga Airport. Unfortunately, having twice stated that I, my wife and two friends would be arriving with large suitcases and individual hand luggage, The FLAG assigned this job to "Pablo" who arrived with a Tesla! No amount of origami was going to fold our party and luggage to fit Pablo's car. The improvement suggestion for FLAG staff is to fully comprehend the detail of all e-mailed correspondence. To conclude, "Teslagate" did not spoil our visit in any way, but attention to written detail will save cost and excuses.

Huge room like aparthotel with fully fitted facilities but the bathroom was relatively small & quite a long way from the bed - the arrangement of the room is quite odd. Long mirror needed. Lovely pool area but really disliked the salt water pool - hot & slimy so couldn't actually exercise in it. Breakfast was fabulous - buffet & fresh order eggs & pancakes. V calm & elegant. Staff a delight throughout - couldn't do enough for us.

Overall excellent and lived up to my expectations, based on all the other positive reviews here. In terms of the lovely private garden down to the beach, the beautiful undeveloped sandy beach itself, and the quite pool area, it was just what I wanted for. a few days to chill in perfect weather, and better than expected. The room was also nice and comfortable (they gave me a mattress topper immediately, which was perfect, as I thought the mattress was a tad hard). Bathroom is quite basic, but it's not a five-star hotel and it's perfectly clean, but could have better ventilation, as no external window. Big issue is the overall location, apart from the private access to the beach, as it's right next to a very busy motorway, and a big junction, so there is no town to walk to or places to visit locally. Cancelada has little to offer (it's in the name!), and even then it is some distance to walk to, as you have to walk a long way to a pedestrian bridge to cross over the motor-way. So if you like being in a place where you can walk to nice restaurants and cafes and bars, from your hotel, and sit out in the evenings, this is not the place for you. I found the food in the hotel to be of very mixed quality. Otherwise you are having to get taxis to go anywhere else. Staff were all really excellent, friendly and helpful. If you did not have good weather and could not sit out by the pool, or go to the beach, there wouldn't be much else to do here.
