Region: From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Town: The peaceful village of Glencoe sits at the western end of Loch Leven and boasts a scattering of houses as well as a small museum, shop and an Inn offering excellent food and refreshments. A popular centre for hill-walkers, climbers and holidaymakers alike, the surrounding area hosts a variety of activities, including many great walking opportunities and an abundance of wildlife not to be missed! Take a trip to the National Trust Visitor Centre to discover the story of the infamous Glencoe Massacre. Travel north across the Ballachulish Bridge towards Fort William and you will pass the Corran Ferry over to the unspoilt Ardnamurchan Peninsula. In Fort William you could take a gondola trip at Nevis Range or drive westwards to the Isles and visit Glenfinnan, where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his standard to rally the clans. You will also find the Glenfinnan viaduct, memorably captured in the Harry Potter films. Alternatively you could follow the coastal route south towards Oban along the shores of Loch Linnhe to Kinlochlaich Gardens, Barcaldine Castle or the Scottish Sea Life Sanctuary, where rescued seals are nursed back to health before being returned to the wild. A fantastic location for all the family!

Wonderful stay!

This property was in a beautiful location great as a base for the Glencoe area. It accommodated our large group comfortably and had all the amenities we could need.It could have been better maintained, as there were some cob webs in the window and the bedding was scratchy like it has not been updated in some time, but those are the only minor faults you'll find with this property. It was great for a large group and offered plenty of space.

The host emailed after checkout demanding an extra 100 for minor "cleaning" issues, which I flatly refused. Their complaints were baseless and befuddling to me. Per the cottage’s posted instructions, we placed the bedding in the tub; the owner then chided us for following those exact directions. They also complained about an unemptied dishwasher, despite a somewhat early 10 AM departure making it very difficult to run and empty it while respecting checkout time. The dishwasher was already in a poor state at arrival, with broken wheels and a misaligned rack. While we left all rooms and dining table clean, we actually had to tidy up upon arrival due to crumbs under the bedsheets and hair in the bathroom sink. The fireplaces were also full of ash and debris when we arrived. The host wrote to us expecting guests to clean it after departure. Clearly, handling potentially smouldering ash is not only unreasonable but a safety liability. The host's poor communication began before the trip, as they ignored my three inquiries regarding basic amenities. The key was also not located per the instructions, leaving us to figure it out on our own in a very isolated and remote area. While the cottage itself was fine, the host's off-putting demeanour, some of the cleanliness, and the criticism we recieved for following their own written instructions made for a poor experience. We are five well-traveled professionals, and this level of aftercare is unprofessional and inappropriate.
