Overall we had a great experience. The rooms were clean and well-maintained. We stayed in a Gauguin Suite, which felt more like a private villa than a hotel room. Having a secluded backyard and plunge pool was a huge plus and made the stay feel very intimate and relaxing. The beach is absolutely beautiful and easily one of the resort's biggest highlights. The food was surprisingly good. Since meals are made to order rather than sitting under heat lamps at a buffet, everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. The drinks were ok, although pretty much what you'd expect from an all-inclusive Caribbean resort.
That said, this is not the type of resort you come to if you're looking to party. Galley Bay is all about relaxation, reconnecting with your significant other, and enjoying a slower pace of life. The evening entertainment is usually a live band playing music rather than the typical high-energy resort productions. Everything is very low-key and laid back.
One thing to note is that the resort itself is fairly small. You can walk from one end to the other in about 10 minutes, which we liked but if you're looking for a massive property with endless activities, this may not be the place.
My only real criticism is that some of the staff seemed a bit uninterested at times. Nobody was rude but we didn't experience the exceptionally warm service that many Caribbean resorts are known for. We didn't notice many guests tipping, so unlike other places the staff is not tip motivated.

We loved the peaceful beach and sparkling clear water. The food, much of it grown on the property, was good and the restaurant staff did everything to ensure the guests were happy. The last time we visited Galley Bay was 14 years ago and it was even better than we remembered.

This is an incredible property. The location is fantastic. Our room was phenomenal. We can’t say enough good things about the staff and how incredibly helpful and friendly they were. The food was amazing with daily changes to the menu in all restaurants - I wouldn’t pay the extra for Ishmay restaurant as the food in the other restaurants was just as good. Pay the extra for the tomahawk steak instead in Seagrape. Would we go back - in a heartbeat. If you go you will have a fantastic stay - enjoy!

Our second trip to Galley Bay, more than 20 years apart. As Fabulous as we remembered, fantastic room, food and staff just the place to relax and recharge. We will be back.
