Superb location, once you get out from Tenjin Station, the lobby entrance is just in Exit 5. There is a family mart at the exit of the station which is very convenient. The room is pretty large in Japan standard. Nice roof top bar. Sound proof of the room is great and TV is able to cast from your iPad. Amazing window view of the harbour.
The aircon is very hot at night, I suspect it is auto off in the middle of the night, even though I selected high speed fan and set the temperature at 21 degrees.

Location and room is generally nice
This hotel has a lot of work to do before the price is justified. The room was ready on arrival at 12pm (they mentioned no one stayed in it the night before) so they told us we could check in.
They then handed us a bill to pay an extra $20 (after already spending $2500 for 3 nights) to check in to the already ready room just a couple hours early. But when questioning the charge politely, the staff member asked her colleagues. The other staff members spoke among themselves and then laughed and shook their heads. We understood in Japanese that they said to the staff member checking us in, “whatever just charge it anyway”, so that’s exactly what they did. It was only refunded after complaining to a manager later in the day.
Breakfast is good and the staff there are very nice and professional. However, they have a Japanese option that is impossible to try as they only make 30 of them available per day. Why not just offer a pre-order of it instead of a lottery of who comes at 7am to rush for it?
Additionally, cleaning was only done at 3pm-4pm (this is no fault of the cleaning staff, they did a great job). We had to ask in order to have it done early the next day.
I would avoid any of the Gate hotel properties in Japan after this experience.
