The hosts were very kind and welcoming. Isuru and his wife greeted me with local snacks, and his parents living next door were also friendly and respectful. The location is great — close to the ocean, especially convenient if you’re not using a scooter. The area is quiet and peaceful, allowing for a good night’s sleep. There’s a private entrance, so you can return at any time. A covered parking space is available, which is useful during rainy weather. Breakfast is available, but I couldn’t figure out how or where to order it.
There was no hot water, and the shower was only a tropical-style head with low water pressure and no hose. Internet was not included — I paid 1,200 LKR for 20GB, which ran out quickly. The room was quite dark. Photos on Booking show a bright space, but in reality, it’s dim due to heavy curtains and limited lighting. The apartment is divided by curtains, likely to help the AC cool the sleeping area faster, but it gives a hospital-like feeling. There’s a sign on the door saying guests are not allowed to invite others — so if you plan to have friends over for dinner, it’s best to check with the hosts in advance.
There was a kettle on a tray, but none of the sockets in the room fit its plug — only the one in the bathroom, and when I tried it there, the kettle didn’t work (or maybe the socket didn’t). There is no access to a kitchen or fridge, and the room gets very hot during the day, so storing food is not really an option — your chocolate will definitely melt.
If these issues were addressed, the place could be ideal. However, in my opinion, it’s more suitable for a group of people rather than a solo traveler.
