We stayed for three nights and honestly couldn't fault the place. The apartment felt brand new, was spotlessly clean, modern, and had everything we needed. The kitchen, bathroom and living area were finished to a very high standard, making it the perfect base for a relaxing long weekend.
Ruan was a fantastic host and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We were greeted with orange juice, croissants, real butter, marmalade and a bowl of fresh fruit, and he even dropped over a freshly baked loaf of bread during our stay. That was such a thoughtful touch and really stood out. There were also fresh flowers in the bedroom, Netflix, and treats and water waiting for our Labrador, Max, who was on his first holiday and had the best time.
The location was exactly what we were looking for, peaceful countryside, yet only a short drive into Donaghadee and the surrounding coastline. We cooked breakfast in the apartment each morning and then headed into Donaghadee or nearby areas for lunch, where we found some fantastic cafés and restaurants. Everyone we met was incredibly friendly. It was also a nice surprise to discover that Ruan is originally from Sutton, not too far from where we're from ourselves.
You can tell a huge amount of thought and care has gone into the accommodation, and it really shows. We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend and would happily stay here again. A big thank you to Ruan for making our stay so enjoyable.
This certainly wouldn't stop us from returning, but it's worth mentioning that there are two apartments in the building, and because of the flooring you can hear some noise from the apartment above. We also met the cleaner, who was very friendly and simply getting on with their work, so it really wasn't an issue for us as we spent most of our time out exploring the local beaches and coastal walks.
We had actually hoped to book the larger upstairs apartment, but someone beat us to it! That's just one of those things, and the apartment we stayed in was still absolutely excellent. Next time we'll try to book the upstairs one, but we'd happily stay here again either way.

We had a fabulous stay at Merok Mill House over Christmas. Ruan was an excellent host, always available and accommodating. Excellent facilities inside and out - the games room was brilliant. We did not want to go home!! Would love to return sometime.
