FOREST HOUSE is a wonderfully peaceful home to visit on beautiful Orcas Island, in the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington State. This one-bedroom home is situated near the north shore of Orcas with distant views toward the Salish Sea surrounding the island. Guests arrive via a one-hour ferry ride from Anacortes, Washington on the mainland. Your visit begins when you get on the ferry and leave your cares behind.
This is the most unique home you will find anywhere in the Islands to rent. It has very unique architecture featuring fine wood interiors, round rooms joined by interior corridors and expansive exterior decks with water views. Look carefully at the pictures for this listing as they tell the story. Romantic, peaceful, charming, comfortable, and your hideaway for the time of your stay.
Featured on King 5 Seattle Evening News when it was known as Hobbit House. Also filmed in a show called Treehouse Masters season 11, Episode 11. Much has changed since then as the owners have lavished their care on this home. New owners are upgrading this summer so that your enjoyment of your visit can be even better.
Unique attributes are the well-equipped kitchen with a four-burner gas stove with oven and a over/under refrigerator with freezer above. Countertops are hand made from wood as are several drawers. Large capacity stacked washer and dryer included for guest use.
The circular living room includes a 55” wall-hung smart TV with Roku featuring Netflix and Prime Video. The under television soundbar and Blue ray DVD player complete the entertainment options. This room also has a comfortable, large sofa and sitting chair, plus easy access to the large outdoor deck environment.
The main bedroom features an excellent king mattress and skylight above for that romantic evening when going to bed. The bedroom is in its own private, separate portion of the home. Reach it from the kitchen via another outdoor deck area. The tower hosts a small studio for painting or yoga on the first floor, and spiral staircase leads to a sleeping loft outfitted with a luxury queen bed.
Then there is the deep soaking tub (accessed via steps) with hand-held shower attachment in its own round room between the living room and the kitchen. Across the hall is a single vanity with a custom sink and toilet together.
As mentioned above, it’s all about the pictures. Because this home has been listed on TripAdvisor for the last 10 years it has over a hundred rave reviews that cannot be transferred to this listing because it is no longer on TripAdvisor. Everyone loves this property. See you on Orcas!

This is a very cool property in Eastsound. As the pictures show, it's a very unique home which makes for a cool stay! A few things to note: 1) You will be waking with the sun--the windows provide gorgeous views, but if you know you're wanting to sleep in, bring an eye mask. 2) As other reviews have noted, the bathroom is located in the main house, which is separate from the two sleeping quarters, so just something to be aware of if you tend to get up in the night. 3) I was on a solo stay, and I was uncomfortable leaving the main house unlocked all night, so I locked all of the back doors and went out the front door at night and then around the main house to the sleeping house. Again, just something to be aware of!4) Regarding the bathroom: the soaking tub is fantastic for taking a bath, but makes hair washing a little more difficult--there is not a secret shower on property ;)This was a very cool rental, but if I had to do it again for a solo trip, I think I would have booked a stay at one of the inns in town for ease of access and my personal feelings of security. I think this would be an amazing home for 2-3 people who really want a secluded stay in a beautiful venue!

This property was great for my husband and I, since we are below 5’7” the bathroom is not tall friendly, so beware. Also when following the address on maps the actual property is further down the road, maps claimed that the property was one house beforehand and we almost entered someone else’s house.

The house was really nice. Communicating with the host was really easy. The laundry machines and gas stoves in the kitchens were nice. We really made use of all the kitchen supplies everyday, they were even nice to provide a take-home spices set. We also really enjoyed the bedroom, it wasn't a super big issue and kind of nice that it was separated from the rest of the house. Light does come into the bedroom on sunrise, which is both nice and harder when trying to sleep in. Bedroom was super clean.
