I was disappointed in the lack of transparency in regards to noise levels
The rooms and bed were clean.
We had a very disappointing experience with the noise level at this property. Most importantly, the listing does not clearly disclose that the rental is located in the basement of a house where a family with small children lives full-time. The walls are not soundproof or adequately insulated, and the noise from the family was significant, particularly in the evenings when the children were running around and in the early morning.
This was not an isolated or minor inconvenience. The noise consistently disrupted our sleep, and my entire family was affected. Despite bringing the issue to the property manager’s attention, I was told that I was “sensitive” to noise. That response was particularly disappointing, as the problem was clearly affecting everyone in our group, not just one person.
We were booked for four nights but ultimately left after three because the noise made it difficult to get adequate rest. Given that we were unable to stay for the final night due to these conditions, we expected at least some reimbursement or accommodation for the unused night. Unfortunately, no compensation or refund was offered.
For a property at this price point, guests should not have to discover after arrival that they are staying in a basement directly below/adjacent to a family with young children and that normal household activity can be heard so clearly. This is material information that should be disclosed prominently in the listing so guests can make an informed decision before booking.
I strongly recommend that the owners either update the description to accurately and prominently disclose the living arrangement and potential for noise, or adjust the price to reflect the experience guests should expect. Ideally, both should be done. As it stands, we felt the property was not adequately represented in the listing and was not a good value for the price. Of note, I do not commonly write poor reviews.
