Staying here was one of the highlights of my time in Sri Lanka. The whole family were incredibly kind, caring, helpful and welcoming, and they made me feel at home from the moment I arrived.
The setting is absolutely beautiful. You really do feel as though you are sleeping in the middle of the rainforest, surrounded by the sounds of nature. There is a lovely river running a few steps below the house where you can take a refreshing dip, sit quietly and meditate, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
The entrance to Sinharaja Rainforest is only a short walk away, but there is so much to see simply by exploring the area around the homestay. Everywhere you look, there is something extraordinary.
The food deserves a special mention. Quite simply, it was the best food I have eaten anywhere in Sri Lanka. Every meal was delicious, freshly prepared and made with such care that I looked forward to every meal. I am vegan and that was catered for without any compromise on flavour.
The Starlink connection worked perfectly. Although part of the magic of a place like this is disconnecting from the outside world, having reliable internet access is sometimes essential (but of course in the rainforest sometimes there are power cuts), particularly for those of us who work remotely or have responsibilities to upkeep at home.
This is much more than a place to stay; it is an experience. Thank you for making me feel so welcome. I hope to return one day.

La gentillesse et la compétence des hôtes: Gunarathna travaille au parc national de la forêt de Sinharaja et nous a beaucoup apporté pour les découvertes de la forêt et des animaux (nous avons même vu un léopard!). Il nous a beaucoup aidé pour la recherche des espèces d'oiseaux endémiques, c'est le meilleur endroit au Sri Lanka pour les oiseaux endémiques. Sa femme est une excellente cuisinière, nous avons bénéficié de la pension complète, avec des repas variés, préparés sur place à partir de beaucoup de légumes frais, et des fruits différents à chaque repas, adaptés aux goûts de chacun. L'emplacement est idéal, il est possible d'aller à pieds jusqu'à l'entrée du parc, et il y a un beau chemin de 4km jusqu'à une autre entrée du parc. Nous avons passé 3 jours pleins (4 nuits) et nous sommes prêts à y retourner!

Clean! Fantastic service. Great Location. Very nice home cooked food. Powerful fans and bright lights. Wonderful for birding. The friendliest and most helpful family. A service driven family that were happy to accommodate all our requests. Stayed 5 nights. Excellent value too.

The family were very kind and hospitable. The meals were excellent and the room was clean and comfortable with all necessary facilities provided. I especially appreciated the help with finding birds in and around the forest.
