Galiano Oceanfront Inn & Spa

We stayed in a 'villa', which was actually just the downstairs of a condo-type building. But it was very nice, and didn't really hear the neighbors. The 'villa' units all face the bay/beach, so it was very pleasant to sit and look at or listen to the ocean sounds (though no screen on the sliding glass door). The unit was very large, with large living-room and kitchen, with separate bedroom. Kitchen was pretty well equipped, though we didn't really do any cooking. Bed was large and comfortable.

Breakfast is a basket you pick up the night before or after 9 am; it was plenty of food, but not that appetizing, with only an apple for fruit, a small oats/nuts mix, a bran muffin. We picked up pastries at the bakery down the street the second morning.

Spacious suite in prime location looking over the water. Full kitchen and bbq. Very comfortable bed. Staff assisted us when we asked. Nice that he breakfast basket can be picked up the night before.

We arrived after 5 and there was an envelope left for us. Unfortunately, the ferry from Victoria gets in later than 5 so I am guessing after 5 check in is not uncommon. (expect the limited front desk hours are a cost saving measure. ). A couple of problems with this - you need to “ request” housecoats, they are not left in the suite as expected. No firewood that night. No breakfast basket for the morning. Had to collect it at 9 from the front desk. I wish we would have known all this before arriving. Overall this is a lovely spot and we will come again, just before 5!

The spa treatments were wonderful. The staff were helpful.

There were several "small" things that need to be addressed: no instructions on how to get other than channels on the TV, the room land line phone wasn't connected, the fridge froze our food even though the dial was turned to near "off". Not a big thing but it would have been nice to have the robes in our room instead of having to go ask for them and the same with the breakfast baskets.
