The room was clean, beds firm, bathroom very clean. Continental breakfast was the usual carb fare, including a pancake maker if you like making your own. It did include hard-boiled eggs for protein and fresh fruit (bananas and apples). Coffee was not lovely, but most places the coffee is not. Front desk folks were nice, as was housekeeping. I was in the 400 room block, which has a central courtyard with patio furniture and umbrellas fitted over the tables. It is entered from a front gate, which made the place feel both pleasant and secure. There is a Trader Joe's just a half-block away. There was a microwave and mini-fridge that was convenient to use and a small table at which to eat. It's not fancy, but it has character and was a good value.
I did not realize that parking was for a fee -- $11 a day.

Room comfort. Great bed, super big bathroom with everything I needed. I had a goodnight sleep for sure.
The attitude of the night staff. Not helpful at all + Breakfast wasn't great. I ended up feeling sick after trying it the first time. Not worth it.

Location is pretty good as you can catch the big blue bus to Santa Monica or to downtown easily
Breakfast was very poor, not much cooked food there
No lift in the hotel so you have to carry your luggage to the first floor
