The cost and location. It's walkable to Japantown and there's a lot of good food available in the Tenderloin. This hotel is just outside the Tenderloin and was cleaned up a lot. It has been maintained. If you like nightlife, that is also within walking distance. The Great American Music Hall is also within walking distance for concerts.
We were originally going to rent a room here when we booked in July. However, the cost was more than usual (we have stayed 2 other times) so we went with another hotel. Ended up leaving the other hotel (was awful) and saw the cost of rooms at Rodeway were back to normal rates and went there. Wish it were the usual rate 2 months ago so we didn't waste money.

Location was good, easy to get to. Parking was available.
Was noisy. Elevator was old and made me nervous.

The price was right even before you factor in the free parking, but get there earlier rather than later if it’s Friday/Saturday/Sun. It will fill up fast. Clean and comfortable enough, and everything worked. Staff competent. Great central location.
Street noise filters in, sirens, motorcycles. Like many less expensive motels, the facilities could be in a little better repair, but it all worked. Didn’t feel unsafe in the facility.
