I left the hotel feeling badly about the money spent on the room.

The bed was very comfortable

The price did NOT reflect the accommodations. The general upkeep of the exterior was waning. Pool was dirty, parking was an additional cost even though there was and is plenty of street parking. This stay was NOT an equitable exchange. The location is not the greatest either, good walkability for a few things but not tourism. It's a long expensive ride to see all the main attractions in San Diego. The price should reflect as such.

charming boutique hotel - warning extra fees

Elevated but not luxurious decor. Location is great, you can walk directly to the water and nearby shops.

The pricing structure could be more straightforward; the Pearl charges a $20 convenience fee for what other hotels would build into the price, e.g. wifi, coffee.

Exceptional

Great place. Good location for biking. They also have bikes to borrow which was lovely.

My key card stopped working many times and I had to go to reception or call for someone to let me into my room. Not great.

we like the aesthetic, so we go there.

Third time at the pearl. we like the aesthetic over typical hotels. the restaurant is convenient and has good quality snacks and local beer on tap. bar/restaurant staff are great.

some aspects of the hotel are looking a little tired. all the extra fees add up and really increase the overall nightly charge. the resort fee is a bit silly, given the winter time pool (shaded and not really heated enough to go in) situation.

disappointed by the stay

style and decoration was lovely

we stayed in two separate rooms and the bedding in both rooms felt damp both in the day and at night, possibly the air conditioning we never got to the bottom of it. Being on the main road meant the rooms were incredibly noisy. the restaurant played booming music until 11:30pm on a Tuesday night when there was only one table in the restaurant. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room and you could only get coffee from reception before 11am. Very disappointing for the price and wouldn’t stay again.

Beautiful boutique hotel

We loved it! Beautiful design, quiet room, and great restaurant.

We got a king instead of two queens. But got a more private corner room so we didn’t mind.

Wonderful intro to San Diego

I loved the vibe that the boutique hotel created compared to how other hotels in the area looked. I also think the staff regardless of their role, made me feel wonderful as a guest. I had a front desk employee clean the pool when I went down there to swim.

I think that price wise, it can be slightly less.

Great stay at a fun and hip hotel!

We liked the vibe of the hotel. Great staff! Excellent restaurant and fun bar. We enjoyed movie night by the pool.

Parking is an issue.

A great Ocean Beach experience!

The day we arrived, happy hour was all day! They had special pricing and good snacking food.

The room we had didn't have a plug for the CPAP machine i use at night. They did compensate us with knocking off the parking fee.

Cute little place, a few things could be fixed / imroved but overall a lovely stay

Unique ambiance, good food & cocktails, excellent customer service. Small and cozy. Nice pool, not too crowded.

Our shower was broken, water did not drain. No mini fridge in room. No self-service ice, no room service. Very loud

Overpriced for a fancy motel

The staff was very helpful and very friendly.

- The lock of our door was broken - Poor sustainability practices: the bath tap kept running even when switched to shower mode; cups provided in the lobby were all single-use plastics (plastic pollutes twice） - Walls and door were very thin and as the property was right next to a road, cars were very loud at night, especially on Saturday night when there were a lot of people racing on the road till late at night with loud cars. - The bed was overly soft and was not comfortable, though it looked very nice.

I would recommend this hotel.

Overall, the hotel is very good. The bar was open with a lovely happy hour, the pool was nice, other guests respected the quiet hours and our room had a window with a view of the screen where they projected movies. It's walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops and deli for small items.

The restaurant was closed.

It was like stepping back into a mid century modern classic home! Truly a pearl!

The Pearl is such a vibe! The rooms are exquisitely decorated and have all the amenities! The bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and personable! Parking was always available and the location is perfect! 10/10 would recommend!

There is nothing that we did not like about our stay here! It was absolutely fabulous and we will definitely be back at the pearl when we visit!

A lovely welcoming hotell. Great start to our trip.

Small and friendly hotel which was close to the airport. A short drive after a Laing haul. Attention to detail. Suoer comfy beds and the rooms were spotless. Very helpful staff. Food and cocktails were delicious.

Tea and coffee in the room would have been lovely but I’m aware that’s not really a thing in the US.

Comfortable, affordable, clean hotel

Loved the design, the rooms were great and the beds were very comfortable. Safe neighbourhood and very helpful staff. We feel that this hotel is VERY GOOD value for money, and are satisfied with the stay based on the price.

Unfortunately the restaurant was closed which we weren’t made aware of prior to our stay. It was frustrating that we still had to pay full amenities fee despite this. On our first night, the hotel hosted a private party. It was noisy, and we had to call twice to ask them to turn the noise down, and they were eventually able to turn the noise down and it was good for the rest of the day. The location is pretty and felt safe, but there isn’t much directly around.
