Of course the house is over 150 years old which gives it tremendous charm. The downstairs sitting rooms are epic. The highlight was the breakfast. All of the ingredients the chef used (eggs, chorizo, berries and honey) came from her farm locally. It was fantastic. Everyone working there was super friendly and helpful.
I was in a very nice room upstairs (The Garden Room). But, the whole upper area is essentially a converted attic. I am 6’3” so there was a fair bit of ducking. The room has no heating (I couldn’t figure out how to turn on the electric stove) or cooling (other than opening a window). Also, the WiFi signal was too weak to work up in the room.

The stewards of Shaw House Shannon and Richard were so gracious and combined with the historical property and a delicious breakfast, our stay was wonderful!
The property is over 120 years old and some areas need a bit of TLC but the owners have only been stewards for a few months and I’m sure all will be taken care of within a short time. I would love to see the gardens when they’re finished!

Location was good.
It was disappointing. Rather than finding a charming old home turned into a B&B, we found an old run-down building in need of repair and refurbishing. In addition, we were early for breakfast, and even though it was ready, and the cook did not appear to be overly busy, she could not accommodate us by providing us with a plate of food that was, according to her, ready to be served. We just left.
