A hidden gem in Kappalady.
Like almost everywhere in Sri Lanka, the staff are incredibly warm, welcoming and genuinely hospitable. But what really makes Wind Blend Kite Resort special is its relaxed atmosphere.
This isn’t a polished luxury resort—and that’s exactly its charm. The wooden cabins are tucked away among the palm trees, with lovely outdoor showers that make you feel immersed in nature.
The layout has a laid-back jungle backpacker vibe, but with enough comfort to make it feel like a boutique retreat. The cozy wooden restaurant is the heart of the resort, with board games, a pool table, and a fridge where you simply grab your own drink and note it down.
One of the highlights is the BBQ evening, where all the guests come together for a fantastic meal at a very reasonable price. And if you feel like a late-night swim, they’ll happily open the pool for you.
If you’re looking for a place with character, great people, and a relaxed tropical atmosphere rather than polished luxury, Wind Blend is the perfect choice. We absolutely loved our stay and would happily come back.
What could be improved?
Honestly, not much. If I had to mention one thing, it would be that the resort isn’t directly on the beach. It’s just a short walk away, but that means you don’t quite get the classic kitesurfing beach-club feeling of landing your kite and immediately grabbing a drink with your feet in the sand. That said, the relaxed jungle vibe of the resort more than makes up for it.

Loved our stay at Wind Blend! Everyone is extremely kind and helpful and the food is great (especially the kottu for us)! The resort is located in the village just a very short walk to the kite lagoon. You can launch your kite and hangout at the surf shack of Wind Tribe, which we also enjoyed a lot. Can really recommend to stay here and hope to be back one day!

*La mosquée qui hurle la nuit
*La réservoir d’eau juste à côté de la chambre qui fuit et dégouline du bâtiment
*le manque d’entretien ! C’est vraiment bien une salle de bain à l’extérieur mais se laver les pieds dans la terre (boue) avec également des feuilles morte ce n’est pas très agréable
*les voisins faisaient du feu en permanence, la salle de bain était jonché de centre.
*fil électrique qui sortent du mur !
*le petit déjeuner était fade et peut généreux et identique chaque jour, le matin il y avait encore des assiettes sale de la veille
