Such an easy place to find. The staff were extremely friendly. Even offered to help us if we had luggage up to the room (I’ve never stayed anywhere that’s offered this).
The room was more than enough to fit my family of five, had individual bottles of water for us, plenty of teas and coffees. Downstairs has a bar and restaurant, I didn’t use this as I was tired but the food was smelling lovely. Breakfast was a hot buffet and continental again everything was lovely. I’d definitely recommend for a family to stay.

Room had an old-style solid feel, and was comfortable, very quiet, and easy to heat up quickly when it got chilly - also immaculately clean, and bathroom had instant and very hot water. Staff were kind and very polite.
No general lounge area at all. The hotel's Booking.com page did not make clear that the restaurant is an Indian one, with very little choice outside of Indian cooking - and during my visit (start of September) there was nowhere else at all to eat in Tomintoul. Dinner on my first night: it took 45 minutes for the simple starter to arrive; main course took one hour (literally), and was totally not what I'd ordered, with minimal choice available when I had to insist on something else instead. Staff were apologetic and very polite, but seemed not to grasp how exasperating this situation is. Dinner on my second night was no problem at all, more than quick and good enough. Good choice of cooked breakfast, but very poor and limited selection of cereals.
