Excellent location. Very close to the Pokémon centre and tube and train stations to Fushimi Shrine and Arashiyama. Very affordable. There is a bus stop outside that goes to Gion and the shopping areas

The staff were friendly (although their English was a little limited - though I can't say much, my Japanese is non-existent!), and there were so many amenities and toiletries in the room. I especially liked having the laundry on the first floor and a plug socket right next to the bed. I heard little noise from the corridors or surrounding rooms. There's a yummy Nepalese restaurant opposite.
The pillows! They were horrible. Flat and uncomfortable, with some kind of hard beaded rubbing at the bottom. The bed was also hard and made my body ache so much. There was no view (the window was frosted) and the lighting was dull, so it never got that light in the room.
The bathroom is so small and the ceiling is low. I am 1.7m / 5ft7, and I couldn't see my face in the bathroom mirror without bending over, and my head was very close to the ceiling. Space was extremely limited. It was almost claustrophobic.
The location itself is a bit far from major public transport hubs, and every bus was very busy in both directions, though they were well connected to train stations and key locations.
