My words cannot properly describe the amazing experience my wife and I had at The Artist Residence (AR). Begonia and David are the wonderful hosts of the AR. They alone, make any stay at AR an event you will remember for a lifetime. Begonia is an incredible artist and her taste in decoration, furniture and gardening make you feel so welcome and comfortable. Her breakfasts are other-worldly. Her afternoon snacks make you want to get back ASAP each day. And David’s hand-pressed coffee is the best we’ve ever tasted across the globe…no exaggeration! Each room is terrific and uniquely different in its own perfect way. We stayed in “Stella’s Room.” With the windows open, the breeze from the sea and quiet made all my stress disappear. The Breakfast Room is probably my favorite room of all time. I could sit in it and relax for hours, just drinking coffee and learning about the truly incredible history of AR, Uncle Hugh, and all Begonia and David accomplished bringing this beautiful cottage back to life. AR is located close to Howth and Malahide, only a few bus stops away. Dublin is an easy train ride away as well. Begonia, David and the AR represent the absolute best of Ireland. When we think of our trip to Ireland, they are the first and best memories we have. We will return to Ireland just to stay at AR and spend wonderful hours visiting with Begonia and David again. Do not miss out on staying at The Artist Residence. - Andy & Kim

My wife and I chose this location to be near Dublin without too much City “noise”. We were so happy with our choice. Our hosts were the perfect balance of attentive & respectful of our privacy. The location was the perfect base to explore so many activities in Dublin, Howth, swords and many attractions in the area. Our room was cozy and very clean with an artists rustic charm. The lounge area and dining room were Irish Country with wonderful options for reading and games if you desired. Breakfast was outstanding!!! Highly recommend this property and especially our Hosts.

We feel so fortunate to have found this remarkable place. Our hostess was beyond helpful and the attention to detail amazing. (I have to mention the lovely linens!) My only regret is that our schedule didn’t allow us enough time to just relax and enjoy. Can’t recommend highly enough. Thank you again to our hostess!

The house was amazing and the hosts were fantastic. Breakfast’s were hot, plentiful and fabulous. Bea and David were very gracious hosts. All the amenities you need for a great stay and more. Sitting in the front garden to relax and have an afternoon glass of wine. Enjoy Bea’s delicious treats. And did I mention the amazing breakfasts. Fresh baked goods fill the house with a wonderful aroma to awake to. Fresh fruit from the garden or locals. A huge traditional Irish breakfast with more fresh baked goods or the special of the day. Or just go basic and try her porridge, which is tasty and filling for a long day of touring. Can’t go wrong with any thing at this great BnB. We will be back in the future.

Our trip to Dublin didn't really go as expected, but in all the uncertainty, the Artist's Residence was a haven. We ended up arriving very late (or early), but because the hosts are so easy to communicate with, they knew we were delayed and everything was ready for us to check in without disturbing anyone. It was so nice to have a warm bed in a quiet room waiting for us after a long, long day. The hosts are warm and welcoming, the house and grounds are lovely, the rooms are quiet, cozy, and comfortable, and the breakfasts are DIVINE. There's a commuter train line into the heart of Dublin only 10 minutes walk away, so getting around is really easy. We were very sorry that our trip was only two days and we're already making plans to go back!
