About this house rental

Nestled in St Petersburg, this lovely house for $284 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. ---Please read description & rules before requesting to book--- Indulge in unrivaled comfort with water views from nearly every room. Enjoy a glass of wine next to the pool and watch for dolphins, flying fish, and manatee in the canal. Explore the mangrove tunnels in your kayak or SUP. Spend a day at the beach or stroll the Saturday Market and then take in the world class museums and restaurants in Saint Pete. Unfortunately we can no longer allow pets. Recently renovated with water views from nearly every room, the Heron House is furnished in a refined modern coastal style. Enjoy the comfortable beds and the conveniences of a well-equipped kitchen, with a drip coffee maker, French press, and the convenience of not having to eat out for every meal. We provide a generous supply of dishes (but no glass by the pool, please). If you are here for the Florida lifestyle, you’re in a great location. The house is 14 miles via I-285 from the airport. Enjoy the private pool, fish off the dock, or bring your kayak or stand up paddle board and row out to Wheedon Island Nature Preserve at high tide. Our insurance company won't allow us to let you use our kayaks, but I can connect you to a local shop that will deliver them to the house for you to rent. Several of Florida’s famous and world class beaches are close by. Saint Pete Beach (#1 in the United States) is 15 miles away. Clearwater Beach (voted #1 in Florida and #7 in the world) is 17 miles away. The house is just over six miles to the world class museums (Salvador Dali, Museum of Fine Art, Chiluly, Holocaust) and restaurants of downtown Saint Petersburg. Red Mesa and Noble Crust Pizza are just up the street and were named in the Tampa Bay Time's top 50 restaurants. The Sunken Gardens are even closer, and Disney is 85 miles away and an easy day trip. Internet is provided. The beds are made, towels ready for use, and the pool is waiting. The house is self-catered, but we'll provide you with toiletries and paper products to get you by for a couple of days. Our neighbors are quiet and considerate people. We would like them to feel the same way about our guests. Please be mindful of house rules and respect quiet time from 9pm on weeknights and 11pm on weekends. We have a strict cancellation policy and do not provide refunds for hurricanes or pandemics. Please purchase travel insurance!! Use of the whole house and yard is yours. Use of the garage is limited to the laundry facilities. (You won't be able to park your car in the garage.) There is a small shed for owner use only in the side yard that we use for supplies which is locked. The home is our vacation home and I have family in the area if you need something. My sister, Susan, is local and, as one of the top real estate agents, has a wealth of information about the area and leads several local meet up groups with activities geared especially for those new to the area. Join her for a Sunday bike ride along the water, stand up paddle boarding, or drinks at one of the local restaurants. This is a quiet residential neighborhood. Many folks have lived here for over 20 years. People are friendly, welcoming, quiet, and helpful. There is comfortable off-street parking for 2-3 cars in the driveway. The streets are narrow and guests are not allowed to park in the street. You may not bring more than a total of three cars unless you are willing to park them at a nearby public lot and not at the residence. Please note that we only provide heat for the pool in the winter months. There is a "spa" feature to the pool where you can enjoy bubbles, but it's not heated. Also, although the back yard is fenced, the canal is not fenced off and serves as a natural barrier. That said, please do not leave children unattended in either the back yard or the lanai. It's best to always be cautious around water. If you would like the child safety barrier installed around the pool before your arrival we would be happy to set it up for you. First, all guests on the property must be registered guests, their names and ages must be on the reservation, and they must provide government-issued ID prior to check in (unless they are under 18). IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS YOUR RESERVATION WILL BE CANCELLED. This is for your safety (in case of fire, hurricane, etc.) as well as ours. Minimum age for primary renter is 25. We try to keep costs reasonable for couples rather than having one set rate, and extra guests mean extra costs and extra wear and tear on the house. If your plans change, let us know PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL and we’ll work to get extra guests registered. Finally, we have cameras at each entrance for property and guest safety and to ensure that no unregistered guests are on the property. - LOCAL GUESTS NOT ALLOWED: Your government-issued ID must show an address that is not local (i.e., you must live at least 150 miles from Saint Petersburg, Florida. In the past year, local guests have frequently had extra people without registering or paying for them, and held parties, which is both against the house rules and results in a lot more cleaning time and wear and tear. The insurance also does not cover anybody not registered and we are not comfortable with that. -We also ask that you keep doors shut. If you don’t you may find the local fauna joining you for your stay—and remember, Florida has gators! Also, leaving doors open with the AC on is a good way to break the AC motor, leaving you hot and humid while battling the gator that wandered in. -No glass is allowed anywhere outside. Glass and bare feet don’t mix. If you wouldn’t be caught dead drinking your wine out of plastic, and you want to enjoy your wine while watching for dolphins in the canal, this isn’t the house for you. We appreciate your high standards, but safety first, y’all. Please also don’t rearrange the furniture, other than the patio chairs, and please put things back where you found them as best you can. The kitchen, dining room, and patio are for eating. Please don’t eat in other parts of the house. Also, please use coasters for any surfaces that aren’t glass or quartz, even at the dining table. We’d like to keep the house looking nice for you and future guests. -Doors must stay closed unless guests are walking through them to respect the environment, prevent damage to the AC, and keeps geckos and gators out. -The pool is heated and controlled remotely. The spa is not heated / NOT a hot tub. Guests may not change the settings for either the pool or the the spa; I requires me to have the pool guy make a special trip back to the house to reprogram the settings and causes it's very expensive to run the spa because of the electricity usage. -Absolutely no glass outside. It puts you, future guests, and our pool at risk. -No PETS -Please do not apply spray on sunscreen inside the house; it will stain and damage the furniture -Children must be under your direct supervision at all times and you will need to let us know if you need us to set up the pool safety fence. If there are small children we will also remove some of the fragile decor items that could cause injury to a child. Please note that there is no fence between the back yard and the canal. Do not allow children outside unsupervised. --Do not flush wipes. We will have to hire a plumber to clear the pipes and charge you the fee. - Please be respectful of our space. We are careful to clean very well before you arrive. Please help us keep it that way, particularly in the kitchen and common areas. (We should not have to deep clean the fridge or stove, or do dishes.) - CHECKOUT: Late check out (after 10AM) will incur a fee of $100. - SMOKERS - There is no smoking inside or outside the house. We will charge $500. Let's just avoid this, please! -To show that you’ve read and agreed to the rules, please respond with “Saint Pete is Neat” in your booking request. -Security Deposit - if you damage the home, you may be charged. Only toilet paper may be put in the toilets. Feminine hygiene products and wipes will clog the toilets and necessitate a visit from the plumber and that charge will be passed on to the customer.

We had a great stay while racing in the J70 World Championships at St Petersburg Yacht Club. There were no surprises, everything was as expected. Kelly was quick to respond to all our questions, the house was perfect and we had a great time. I would recommend this house to anyone visiting the area.

I stayed with my family for a few days on our way over to Orlando. The house was a great location with fantastic outdoor set up. The dock was very nice, and the boys fished most of the day and caught tons of fish. The pool was just the right size with a spa suitable for my smallest child. It was nice to be able to be at pool and still watch the boys fishing. We walked to Starbucks each morning and the neighbor is quaint and felt safe. St. Pete pier and nice restaurants were a short drive away. The furniture was all in good condition and the house was as shown. Finally, the owner Kelly communicated very well and was very helpful. I would definitely stay here again. It was the perfect long weekend rental.

We did a girls’ trip for my daughter’s birthday. 2 adults and 2 15y/o. Space was perfect for our needs. Rooms, beds, pool and dock. The location was centrally located to everything we wanted and needed. Plenty of food options, grocery stores and museums. The house provided plenty of essentials like coffee, blankets, pillows, towels and beach stuff. The kitchen was fully stocked and then some. There is also a Roku to be able to steam tv and radio. The pool felt great and nice breeze on the dock. There were a few cons to take notice of. The bed sheets were scratchy and I had to sleep on top of comforter with a blanket instead. The master bedroom doesn’t get adequate air flow. It never really cooled. Overall though it was great! Thanks for a great stay.

Traveled with a friend and my two kids. The layout, location, and pool was great. The kitchen had all the utensils/dishes/etc needed. I walked the neighborhood every morning. It was very peaceful with variety of foliage/flowers and wildlife. Would definitely stay again. Very few cons that really didn’t have an impact on my stay. As others mentioned, the bed sheets are very stiff. I found another, set that was a little better, in the closet. The sliding door out to the pool is a struggle to open/close. It’s just a heavy door and doesn’t have a handle to grip. So, I often found it open because my kids (8 and 9) struggled to close it. Two very minor things. Check out was easy. Just tidy up and make sure things are where you found them. Throw the pool towels in the laundry and start the dishwasher. The house rules concern, other commented on, were not an issue. They seemed fairly straightforward.
