We really enjoyed our stay.

Large rooms with kitchen facilities which was an added bonus. Great value for money. Lovely breakfasts.

Decor a little dated but clean and perfectly adequate for us.

Exceptional

Spacious room, all facilities there, could have self catered if I'd wanted. Great breakfast! Toast delivered to your table instead of making your own. Perfect.

All in all it was OK.

We booked this property for 2 nights during our stay on Orkney. We wanted to stay just outside Kirkwall and the main tourists. Its location was a good fit for us because it was centrally located to explore the island. Our room was huge - kitchen, main sleeping area, an additional sleeping area, and couch/tv. Overall it felt like a cabin even though it was on the top level of the house. The space was good and the overall property adequate. The breakfast was very nice with the traditional Scottish items. The staff/owners were friendly. We felt safe coming and going at all hours. All in all it was OK.

Accommodating staff were understanding of our difficult situation.

Last minute booking as our child had to go to the nearby hospital. The staff were understanding and accommodating with our inability to know when we'd check in, which ended up very late. The room was large and had a kitchenette for which we were grateful, being stressed, hungry, and exhausted. Breakfast was large and tasty. I can't overstate how grateful we are to the staff and beds. 11 out of 10 if I could do it.

We couldn't find a pen for filling out the breakfast order. Had to rummage through our car.

Good

Lovely guest house. Room was large and had nice set up. Very accommodating hosts. Parking was a little tight when house was fully booked. Nice place to stay while touring all around the Orkney Islands.

Great place for a great price

Clean and included all the essential stuff. Breakfast was well prepared and tasty and I loved the fishtank. Also I liked that there was a sign to help confirm I was in the right location after arriving late at night.

It would have been good to have soap to clean hands after using the toilet. Not sure if that was one of the ways of keeping the price down?

Our room was very large, with a kitchenette, and was quite comfortable. There were plenty of choices at breakfast.

It was a 20-minute walk to reach downtown.

Sanderlay is so good and if I do return here then this is the place I'm sure I will be staying.

The manager is an excellent man helping his son too who is otherwise engaged just now I'm sure if I could only afford it I would be staying there for all my visit to Kirkwall.

I didn't like the fact I couldn't stay any longer for financial reasons I tried but anyway.

Overall, a good choice and reasonably priced

Nice quiet location and comfortable clean room. Also parking available. Breakfast excellent with friendly and pleasant staff

My main gripe would be the pillows. Quite flat and hard which was difficult for me to get comfortable. Others may not mind too much. Being picky now, but no glass in the bathroom and bedside lamp did not work. Also, a bit of local info wouldn't go a miss.
