Thorsten & Barbara are lovely, welcoming hosts. The location of the accommodation is fantastic, on the edge of the village of Balmaha, just a short walk to Loch Lomond and onto the West Highland Way footpath at the foot of Conic Hill. The scenery is truly beautiful.
The lodges are very well designed, having been built by Thorsten himself. The rooms are fairly compact but make clever use of all the available space, including beds that can be rotated to become seating, and are comfortable. The shower in the en suite bathroom is very good, although booking is advisable as it’s clearly very popular.
Next door to the lodges is a separate building with a well equipped communal kitchen, with several stoves, a microwave and large fridge, and multiple tables for dining if you wish to self cater. There’s an outdoor terrace too with seating which is perfect for catching the sun going down if the weather is good.
In Balmaha itself we also found the food at The Oak Tree to be very good.
Overall we’re very happy with our stay here and will definitely use Birchwood Guest Lodge again.

Loved this place, room was so cute with wooden beams and just perfectly designed with everything you’d need including hooks on the radiator for drying and tea and coffee making facilities. Didn’t use the communal kitchen but that looked really good.
