A nice and safe homestay, but uncomfortable pillows

Really helpful and sweet staff! The owners are very friendly. They offer scooter rental, which is nice. At Chemel, you cant really hear the Mosque which is VERY nice. The breakfast was very nice, and they even have a free water refill, as well as free bananas!😄 Also free coffee! The location is nice, but you’ll have to pass some dogs, cows, chickens, geese, cats and frogs to get to the homestay/ to the city.

The pillows are very high and hard, which made us eventually use our packing cubes filled with clothes as pillows. It was not cleaned properly. There was spider or coweb in our room, several spiders and even a worm under the bed… We also heard what the owner described as «the mother mouse» running across our roof several times at night..🫣 The road was a little muddy and hard to ride with a scooter.

Great stay!

Great location, the staff is very sweet and bananas / coffee/ tea/water was always accessible which was a plus!

unfortunately our stay was during rain season, so the bathroom was always wet since it is open and the road on the way to the hotel was challenging ;)

Good place to stay in the centre of Kuta and exploring the surroundings.

Near the centre of Kuta. Good A/C. Helpful owners.

The breakfast was not that good. Bathroom half outside, you will get wet when its raining while sitting on the toilet.

Lovely staff and nice rooms!

Unfortunately our bathroom kept flooding with the rain and the location isn’t the best, as you have to walk down a muddy road, but it didn’t bother us too much!

Not great, not horrible.

The location is great, except you will get barked at/possibly chased by lots of dogs while walking down the very potholed side street the homestay in on. The room is okay, clean and very air conditioned. It's quiet.

I honestly felt this wasn't the greatest value - comparing to alllll the other places I stayed in Indonesia. This has been my budget the last month, even on Bali, and this has been the lowest quality. No hot water. The wifi works, sometimes. The toilet flushes, sometimes. The breakfast is below average- I couldn't even eat the banana pancake. Most of the employees speak almost zero English so it's difficult to book things so I just went to town for booking needs.

Great value for your money!

Spacious room with good AC. Bed was decent and big, comfortable nights. Staff is very friendly, and breakfast is good. Nice courtesy to always provide guests with free drinking water and bananas. Coffee and tea are also up for grabs. The owner can arrange a scooter, shuttle bus and more, which is convenient at a decent price. Location is very close to the street in Kuta that you want to have diner (at one of the many good restaurants) and beaches are 5-15min drive with scooter.

The bathroom is fully outdoors and this makes it a bit uncomfortable to shower in the heat of southern Lombok. Water pressure is very low and the drain doesn't function well, so floor (also leading to toilet) is always wet. Communication between staff is a bit chaotic, leading to promises that are not always met. This is however without any bad intention ofcourse, so just not ideal sometimes.

Dirty! No soap or shampoo no toilet paper no blanket on the crappy bed. Dogs barking all night bad staff not great wifi. By far the worst homestay I have experienced in Indonesia. Don't stay here.

We had a wonderful stay at the Chemel Homestay in the heart of Kuta. You can easily rent a scooter and drop off your laundry at the accommodation. The breakfast was good and the all-day-long coffee and banana offer was a great bonus. Until next time!

Very good

The owners were really friendly and we enjoyed the free water, tea and coffee. The breakfast was also great. The room was clean and spatious. The scooter we got was excellent and just cost 50k per day.

They said they will fix the Wi-Fi for two days and promised it will work, but it wasnt fixed during the 3 days we stayed there. The road to the accomodation is a little bumpy and its slippery when it rained because its getting muddy.

In the middle of coconut trees

Location is super nice, the room is comfortable and the terrace is very cute, the owner and his wife are super friendly and very helpful, we extended our stay five more nights.
