Good

The staff were lovely and very friendly and Susanne the manager could not have been more helpful in helping us settle in and in recommending and organising trios for us.

The place seemed a little tired, particularly the outside seating area where the sunbeds had seen better days and it definitely needed more shade and places to sit more comfortably. This would have made a big difference to our stay.

Simply perfect

Simply everything. The place is great with all services you may need. Staff is lovely, always keen to help without being too close. Helping us to organise activities and taxis at very fair prices. The place is a bit expensive but definitely worth it as you have a great service in a great place

Hotel: Very well maintained hotel with amazing room, privacy and a superb terrace for relax with sea view. We spent such great mornings and evenings listening to the sea and enjoying the sea breeze. Superb cleanness Dinners: there is definitely quality in the ingredients, the biggest problem is the service.

BOUTIQUE HOTEL is something way different than what you offer… Hotel: No AC but only a noise fan and No mini fridge. The hotel refills water FOC two times per day but it gets hot after 1 hour. No possibility to purchase outside some refreshments. Dinners: In three dinners the average time to get served any food is about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Ordered water 7 times in 30 minutes and it never got to the table. Ordered a bruschetta as started and it arrived after 1 hour and 30 minute. Ordered wine for two nights and we had to chase it up 3 times. After 45 minutes, I simply opened the fridge and took it by myself. No apologise or discounts for all of this… the view is amazing but 3 hours for a dinner with main and dinner is way too much! Services: we asked them if they organise the safari blue. We woke up at 6am to be super ready at 7am since the “Captain” is different than all the rests and wants to be in the spot earlier than usual. We got picked up at 7am and once arrived there was no Captain… we had to call him 3 times since he was just saying to be close. Only 15 minutes away. At the end we waited 1 hour and 10 minutes. The hotel was kind to prepare some fruits and cookies but no coffee, no tea or juices. All of this was packed inside destroyed food containers with missing plastic parts they were reused at least 30 times. Not even new containers... Transfers: We were supposed to be picked up at 5am and no one showed up. Only after 10 minutes calling the manager (who doesn’t live there and therefore we cannot help). After complaining quite a lot and asking her to take this matter more seriously since she was almost laughing at the phone, she decided to call another taxi driver with a delay of 35min. Once the taxi driver arrived, he had to drive in a crazy way overtaking the cars at 120kmh and risking our life at least 4-5 times. All of this at 6am in the morning in a country without road developments. Definitely not a Boutique Hotel.

Idyllic little spot in Zanzibar

Lovely small guesthouse right by the break in Jambiani. Beautiful building, gorgeous rooms and very friendly staff. Nice laid back atmosphere to the place. The host gave us a nice briefing when we arrived and helped arrange excursions for us, which were great.

Like in a dream

We liked absolutely everything about this place! Only 1 hour after arrival, it had already become our favorite stay on the island (it was our last of 4 stops). It is hard to say why but the hotel looks so nice and all the staff is so friendly and trying to do all things right for you, we had just nothing left to worry about. We had a very spacious room with terrace that opened onto the beach. So simply staying in the beautiful surrounding was amazing. On top of that Susanne, the manager, organized several nice excursions for us. We would highly recommend the spice farm tour as well as the blue safari. She was even so nice to lend me some shoes for walking around in the sea at low tide and being save from the sea urchings. Further, we also enjoyed eating at the hotel various times. We found the food had a good mix of local dishes or seafood with some European (especially Italian) touch. (Usually we like trying out various restaurants in the area but we were so happy here we often just stayed and tried different items on the menu instead)

Great to relax and decompress

The atmosphere of the hotel makes you relax immediately. The attentive staff and management. The rustic style of the hotel. I stayed there over Xmas and a dinner was organized by the hotel where guests were invited, that was a great gesture.

Beyond perfection. From the location, the staff to the room.

We had an exquisite stay at Mamamapambo. From the minute we arrived, til the last second, everything was beyond perfection. The staff is an absolute dream, and definitly make our stay way better than we could ever imagined. Many thanks to Suzanne, Josephine, Pepsi. Shout out to the chef and cook, we did not planned to have every meal at the hotel but couldn't go anywhere else, after the first bite ! The room is spacious, clean and done twice a day. The view from the room we booked or from the main terrasse leaves you speechless at anytime of the day. We felt the most welcomed, we felt at home, this is priceless. I have been traveling a lot for holidays and business and Mamamapanbo has definitly set the bar pretty high.

Superb

I definitely recommend this hotel! Perfectly located, right by the ocean, friendly service, very helpful. We were there for our honeymoon and we couldn't have picked a better place! The only thing you need to know is that there are no glass in the windows, so it can get a little windy at night and you can hear strong waves.

Mamamapambo was the perfect place for me after traveling throughout Africa for 4 weeks. I was looking for some place that was quiet and small and they did not disappoint. My room was mere steps from the pool and the beach. I barely left the property and was barefoot the whole time. Staff makes you feel so welcomed and like family.

Everything Perfect

It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy my stay in Zanzibar, I found exactly what I was looking for! The hotel is beautiful, everything is clean and the rooms are great. The ocean view is breathtaking. The hotel arranged for me a local boat with Captain Salum and I swam and snorkeled in some amazing turquoise spots just meters from the beach. The breakfast and dinner are simply delicious. But the most surprising part is the staff: Susan, Pepsi and the rest of the team went out of their way to make my stay memorable. Thank you so much for this unforgettable vacation

The room didn't have AC and in the night it gets quite hot if there is a power cut.

Book your stay now!! If you are reading reviews waiting the perfect 'sign', this is it; This hotel is a total gem and a slice of paradise. Intimate, private, and so peaceful. Immediately upon arrival we were spoiled by staff and it was immediately clear that the vibes of kindness and love flowed throughout the team here. The hotel is so gorgeous and so uniquely decorated, we fell in love right away. We also knew we would not want to leave. We were so taken care of, truly spoiled w the beauty and love/laughter of this location. This was our favorite place/experience on Zanzibar! Food was great. Beverage selection was perfect. Cold Water/ice abound. Lovely pool. Relaxing furniture. Everything perfect!

We had a great stay at Mamamapambo, honestly amazing, I would recommend to anyone visiting Jambiani. The staff and boutique manager were very accomadating & helpful. The rooms were spacious and always kept clean. Will definately return - thank you for your hospitality!

wonderful

everything ! we had a wonderful room with our own terrasse to chill. the room was big and comfy and very clean. the hotel is so nice and it’s very intimate. there is a nice fresh and clean pool. the food is amazing!!! the staff is so lovely! I asked them to prepare something special for my husband’s birthday and it was wonderful and unforgettable. best experience in Zanzibar !

Lovely experience! Very friendly and helpful staff. Small beautiful structure and garden, ideal to enjoy a quiet or romantic vacation. Directly on the amazing Jambiani beach, with a private terrace with sun beds and umbrellas. Very rich and varied home made breakfast; a different menu for dinner every day. Many options to organise activities on the island. Swift communication with the host.

Only slight downside was the air con in our room was a bit weak, so we were a little too warm on a couple of nights. Everything else was wonderful though!
