Our stay was wonderful at St James resort. The food, staff everything was great.

The food was excellent

The only issue was the smell of the sea weeds that came from the beach close by certain areas of the beach

Comfortable and friendly staff.

The property was in a beautiful bay. Plenty to do, entertainment provided in the evenings and easy access to booking day trips from the resort.

There were extra charges upon check out. A $24 a day charge for wifi and room cleaning. However the room was cleaned every other day and the wifi only worked in the room. The price of the stay wasn’t cheap, so it was a bit disappointing that we had to pay this when checking out and it wasn’t included in the price.

IT was great for what we wanted, which was somewhere to flop.

The location was fantastic as were the staff - particularly Judy at the bar by the adult pool. The royal area was good as there was a concierge for us to use and it felt a little more exclusive than other areas of the hotel.

The special concierge for the royal suites was never open and so we all had to use the main reception which was so busy. That was a real shame. Also sometimes it felt like we were on a cruise ship - as many of the other guests got up at 6am to "bag" sun loungers and then didnt appear to use them until midday when they would then retire for lunch at 1pm. The entertainment in Docksiders at times was awful I am sorry to say!

A mixed experience. Some really nice aspects let down by poor service and an uncomfortable room.

My room was spacious with great views over the bay. The hotel had a relaxed easy going vibe and it never felt crowded; there was no fighting over sun loungers. The dive centre, the fitness centre, the spa treatments were all fantastic.

While my room was spacious with a beautiful view, the bed and pillows were lumpy. The shower was covered in black hair and despite mentioning this a couple of times at reception they remained for about 5 days until i called a maid into my room. The room spec is not exactly luxurious in for a royal suite - the shower was basic and the hairdryer fixed to the wall with a short lead, really? I spent over $5k do you think I would steal the hairdryer???? The food choice in the buffet restaurants was poor and the service was not good. I could easily get to the end of my meal without even a glass of water. It seemed that the staff were focussed on the bigger tables of families.

Great as a base or if you have kids or are not a foodie!

great facilities - it would be perfect for families as it has so many activities on offer. Also Bennett the tennis coach is fab and so lovely.

apart from breakfast the food is dreadful - we ended up eating out a lot.

our Royal suite on was lovely and spacious

The constant load music from the restaurant areas even when they were closed (and the staff were the only ones there. ).The music was too loud and unnecessary. The tour boats returned from the tour with extremely loud music playing even when the pax had disembarked. not to mention that the Captain should have tried to moderate the language of the drunk passengers. The food was of a very low standard (apart from Piccolo Mondo). I believe it was probably the quality of the raw ingredients that could be improved. The International and ‘Bollywood’ nights were very disappointing. couldn’t see what the reference to Bollywood was all about. There certainly was no Indian type food on display.. The Asian night noodles in the ‘Chow Main’ were incredibly over sweetened and inedible.

perfect chill out week

our room being on the beach. Dane our bar cart man was very sweet. food was pretty good, a good selection to choose from.

some of the staff were very off hand and could care less if we were there or not. our room wasn’t serviced every second day!

relaxed, helpful and happy staff, food really good for all inclusive.

Location was excellent, and social distancing was extremely through, and did'nt feel exposed at anytime. The excursion team where very helpful and help us choose the right trips for our stay, rather than just book anything. A la carte restaurants where really good quality too.

Room was not available on arrival, and some where able for late check out, which we didnt get, so maybe some day areas that people could book to shower/change before leaving as our flight, even if nominal charge as the UK flights leave in late evening.

Great location for couples and families

Good size rooms with easy access to two different beaches. We had a room overlooking the Atlantic beach which was stunning. Good choice if dining options and activities available throughout the day. Friendly staff. Varied entertainment available in the evening. Very well equipped gym. Tennis, Paddle tennis and table tennis available.

Seaweed stench and poor drinks options

The people were amazing

The seaweed is a serious problem as they cannot clear it from the beach and the stench is awful. The selection of beer was very poor with only one poor option available. Other drinks were very inconsistent. Coffee in the restaurants was awful.

Brilliant location, beautiful hotel and we’ll be back!

The food choices at the different restaurants was varied day to day. Authentic food that was really top quality. The cocktails were also brilliant. All the staff were really helpful and friendly. The COVID -19 safety measures were also really good.

Nothing really, I would come back again for sure. The location is beautiful with its own little secluded bay, my only point would be that if you want to travel to the rest of the island I would consider renting a car (you can from the hotel) as you can end up paying a lot more in taxi fares to get to different destinations.

Lovely resort, Amazingly nice staff!

The staff were really nice and very helpful. We had special orders on two occasions and they were really great about accommodating our requests. Chef Keeta and the rest of the wait staff at the Docksider were fantastic, as were Dana and the staff at Rainbow Garden. The Aqua Aerobics sessions were fun as were the Caribbean dance sessions. The rooms were nice - we had two beacchfront rooms. I also liked the fact that the rooms were connecting rooms so we could have our teenagers in another room while we had our own.

The wifi was weak and intermittent and this cost the hotel a star in our rating. It barely worked outside of the rooms and the lobby. One day, it was down totally - a problem with the provider. So, while the provider may have messed up in this instance, what was the reason for the generally poor wifi outside of the bedrooms and the lobby. Also, on the day before we left, the water was turned off without prior warning. I did not get the sense from the staff I spoke to that it was an urgent or sudden issue, so I do not understand why we were not warned - my husband was stuck in the bathroom for over 40 minutes. Then the seaweed on the Atlantic side - whish is where our rooms were - is a real problem, which, I must commend the resort, they tackled vigorously and resolutely, clearing the seaweed regularly.
