Das kleine Hotel liegt einen Steinwurf vom zentralen Platz der Stadt, der durch seine im Zweiten Weltkrieg nicht zerstörte Backsteingotik charakterisiert ist. Jedes Zimmer hat auf diesem Hintergrund seinen eigenen Charakter. Allee Sehenswürdigkeiten der Innenstadt sind zu Fuß zu erreichen. Zwei Museen, die Ostpreußen und Immanuel Kant gewidmet sind, liegen einige Meter weiter. - Eine weitere Besonderheit ist dadurch gegeben, dass die "Kutscherstube" von StudentInnen betrieben wird.

Wonderful location in the heart of the medieval old town of Lüneburg. The accommodations were well appointed and clean and a very good value for the money.
It was confusing that the sign on the street was for a different hotel.
The staff person on duty explained that it was due to requirements in the historic district that the sign remain unchanged. It was however a modern sign, not a permanent one on the building. In addition, the hotel's free wifi - which did function completely fine - was listed as the hotel wifi for a completely different hotel name. I did not follow up to find out why. But it made me wonder if they shared a network with another business or if we were just using someone else's network! Having so many things listed under different names seemed sketchy to me.
One other minor point, the desk is not staffed throughout the day. Apparently the hotel is owned and run by university students - and they ask that you give them an hour's notice before your exact time of arrival, so someone can be there to check you in. We also wanted to leave one of our bags with them after checking out but before our train departure and this was a really complicated because we then needed to let them know exactly when we would return to collect it because, again, they would need someone to come back to the hotel to let you in to get it. (The outside door locks from the street.)
All in all, not a huge problem. And, for the affordable accommodation, one can live with some quirks. But future guests should be aware, I think.
