About this house rental
Nestled in Bethany Beach, this charming house for $300 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Beautifully decorated nautical and patriotic, bright and cheerful beach cottage. Just three and one-half (3 1/2) blocks from the beach and one and one-half (1 1/2) blocks from downtown. Full kitchen includes microwave, dishwasher, oven and cook top/stove. Rear sunroom with full size washer and dryer. Family room has 55" wall mounted Smart TV with Firestick and NetFlix. Remote control ductless HVAC throughout. Front sunporch with wicker furniture and ocean breezes. Screened in porch with picnic table, beach chairs, beach toys, beach wagon, and large outdoor shower. Additional TVs in the 2nd floor common area and a first floor bedroom. Main level has two bedrooms (one with queen and one with twins/singles) and full bath with tub/shower. Second level has two bedrooms (one with queen and one with two twins/singles) and full bath with shower. Second level has seating area and separate work space. Rental includes use of Town of Bethany parking permit. Easy walk to downtown and beach. Sugarloaf Cottage rents Saturday to Saturday in-season. Check-in is 3:00 pm and check-out is 10:00 am. Improvements since 2020: roof, whole-house insulation, exterior, whole-house replacement of windows and doors, kitchen lighting, kitchen fan, stove top/oven, dishwasher, sunporch wall and flooring. Kitchen is fully stocked. Guests are required to bring or rent bed, bath and beach linens. Local rental companies - Gale Force, Sheets at the Beach, Coastal Rentals. Should you decide to book, detailed renter information regarding the use of the cottage and where to find out about local events and activities will be sent.

The photos and description of this home do not do it justice. The host was extremely responsive to my questions. The home was way larger than the photos make it appear. The location was super easy to access the beach from (very easy 10 minute walk, or quick trolley ride right from in front of the house). And the screened in porch and outdoor shower were perfect for meals and rinsing off after the beach. We loved our stay!!!

I can’t say enough good things about this property and the owners! We didn’t want to leave and would stay here again in a heartbeat.
First, it’s super clean and beautifully renovated. It’s beautifully decorated and all the furniture and beds are super cozy and comfortable. It’s the perfect layout for a big family, with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the main level, and the same upstairs. The kitchen is well stocked for preparing meals if you want to eat in more than out. We loved the front porch as a beautiful quiet space to have our morning coffee or read our beach books. The owners have thought of everything, from extra staples in the pantry to tons of extra beach chairs, an umbrella, toys, and a beach wagon which came in handy. We enjoyed this house so much.
It’s in the perfect location on a beautiful, quiet street. It’s about 3 blocks to the beach, which took us about 10-12 minutes to walk, and about the same to walk into town, which was perfect for our evening walks to get frozen custard at Kohrs.
The owners were wonderful and quick to communicate. We would rent from them again without question.
We highly recommend this property for the perfect quiet beach stay.

We had a truly wonderful stay at the beach cottage! The home and property exceeded expectations. Everything was exceptionally clean and there was plenty of room for our family. The home was well equipped with beach gear and my youngest son loved all the books sprinkled throughout the home. The resident parking pass was very handy. This was our first stay at Bethany Beach and we had a great time. We loved that we were close to the beach and town center in Bethany, while Rehobeth and Oceancity were a short drive.

So clean, convenient, amazing hosts, fully appointed, cute house in cute, very safe neighborhood. Our entire family of adults and teens really enjoyed ourselves. No one wanted to leave. Linen service was great, too.

This beach house was the foundation for a great trip for our family to Bethany Beach. Having not been to BB before, we were operating in the unknown about the neighborhood, distance to the beach, and whether the house would suit our needs for our family of four. We could not have been more pleased with the quaint neighborhood, short/manageable walk to/from the beach and town center (with a 4 y/o) - made that much easier with a trolley that picked us up at the driveway or the wagon provided to tote our beach items (thank you for this!), and an inviting/quiet/comfortable house to return to after each trip. This was an ideal property to rent. Thank you!

We had a wonderful vacation at Laura's home. The house had plenty of space for our family of six to spread out, and even when my in-laws came for a few nights we still had plenty of room. We loved the outdoor shower with the kids (they loved that it has hot water!) and our youngest loved that the beach trolly comes down the street every 20/25 minutes. We usually walked to the beach, but sometimes took the trolley to a less crowded beach. The kitchen had every cooking dish or gadget we needed and more. We made a lot of memories this trip - thank you Laura for being a wonderful and receptive host.

The cottage itself is pristine. Everything we needed and cozy but not cramped. The front porch is a beautiful place to read, chat and relax. The location is ideal. Close to the beach, the town and a favorite daily stop, Difebos Market.

What a wonderful experience we had! Laura was so great at communicating and the location is perfect. It’s a short walk to the shops and the beach and the residential parking pass makes parking closer super convenient. This is our go to property whenever we go to Bethany Beach from now on.

This house was the perfect vacation spot for our family of four (+ grandparents that stayed for a few days during the week). It was just a short walk to town and the beach so the kids had the freedom to roam about. The house was clean, well stocked, and very comfortable! We can't wait to book it for next summer!

This was a great house for 8 people. Nicely decorated and very clean which is always a plus. The beds were very comfortable. We were able to walk to the beach or take the shuttle for 25 cents. Another plus was the parking pass which allowed us to park in lots downtown.

Sugarloaf cottage is a charming and spacious home with multiple amenities, in a lovely quiet neighborhood. We had adults, teens and younger children and all ages had a blast and found plenty to do. The cottage is close to everything you would need and the special touches throughout the house were very appreciated. The owners are very thoughtful and responsive. Thank you, Laura and Dick Irwin for a wonderful vacation.

We had a lovely stay at Laura's place. The location was an easy walk to the beach, and right along the trolley route. The house had everything we needed, and worked well with kids. The outdoor shower came in really handy for getting sand off the kids. The house layout worked well for two families -- each floor has a bedroom with a larger bed, and then a second bedroom with twin beds.
We accidentally dropped something down the lint filter. We felt horrible, but Laura couldn't have been nicer when we reached out. She came to fix it herself when a service person was unavailable!

We could walk to the beach or use the trolly that came right in front of the house. Two bedrooms downstairs were great for older adults, but the tub/shower downstairs had no safety rail and was difficult for an elder adult to use. The step in shower is upstairs and was unaccessible to this adult. We appreciated the charcoal grill.

We had a terrific stay at the Irwin's beach cottage. The house is lovely, comfortable, and very well located. Beds were comfortable, the communication with the Irwins was excellent, and we had everything we needed and more. If you want a nice cozy house a relatively short walk (7 mins or so) to the beach and to the Bethany boardwalk, then this is a great place to stay.

I don't think I could say enough good things about this property and the wonderful experience we had from start to finish. Laura was very responsive, and when we had to re-schedule our original date due to COVID restrictions, she was so gracious in offering another weekend for us! The house itself was beyond expectations and pictures. House and bedrooms were spacious and comfortable and no detail was left unacknowledged. Everything you could possibly need from the kitchen utensils to beach chairs and wagons to parking and hand sanitizer was fantastic. The house was an easy walk to the beach. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We loved staying at Sugarloaf. Everything was clean and as advertised. The front porch with fan was cozy for reading, and for daily workout. The sofas are very comfortable and the TV and internet were great. The bedrooms had everything we needed (we brought night light and alarm clock). The most people we accommodated were 6 adults and 3 cars at one time and we all had enough space (with one bedroom to spare). The living room and dining room were a little dark - we had to move lights around and could only do our jigsaw puzzle in the daylight hours. The a/c units in each bedroom were easy to control. The kitchen was well-equipped (I brought my own metal steamer). We could not get 2 front burners of the stove to work but back worked fine and Laura said she'll take care of that. The back yard building had charcoal grill and everything we needed. The outdoor shower was my favorite - loved the hand-held shower piece and nice warm water and convenient shelves and hooks. The beach chairs and umbrella were great - we did not have to bring ours or rent. The walk to the beach took about 10 minutes - depending on time to cross the highway. The walk to town is even less. We didn't even need to use the town parking permit but were glad to have it, just in case. Laura was very accommodating.

My family and I really enjoyed staying at this cute, quaint, clean and well maintained house located within an easy walking distance from the beach. I would definately stay here again in the future. It met and exceeded my expectations for accommodations for our week at the beach.

This house provided the perfect summer getaway. Close to everything, cute, and comfortable,. Easy walk to the beach and boardwalk or catch the trolley right in front of the house. Bethany Beach itself has great activities going on every day and was so much fun to explore.

We enjoyed your accommodations at Sugarloaf Cottage of Bethany Beach Delaware in many ways. Our short daily walk to and from the beach enticed us to take in the sights & smells of the small village of Bethany Beach. The children's play ground; board walk fries, ice cream vendors and much more. The local police presence was very visible at all hours of the day and night. Sugarloaf was quite nice; clean, cool, lots of amenities inside and out. Three adults and three children experienced an enjoyable beach vacation where we retreated in comfort at Sugarloaf cottage on Collins Street. The $0.25 trolly that went by the front door every hour was a plus too. I would recommend the Sugarloaf experience to other folks hoping to enjoy a similar experience that we enjoyed on our vacation.

Such a cute house and so close to the beach! We loved the outdoor shower and the front porch. It was very well stocked with all our needs. The only bummer was a lack of parking pass that we had been told was included. But that was really not a big deal. A great stay!!
