About this house rental
Nestled in Mission Beach, this attractive house for $471 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. Graces Beach House was owned by Grace Withey and managed by Pat and Mike Withey. In december 2012 Grace passed away at 90 years old.James Patrick [Pat] and Mike Withey inherited Graces and are still managing it. In 2009 Grace decided to remodel her home which included gutting it down to the studs and completly remodeling the home with new everything then turned it into a vacation rental. The home is in South Mission Beach and is a single family home. It is one of only a few Ocean Front single family homes left most are condos and consist of 2 or 3 units which means at Graces there are[ No Shared Spaces]. South Mission is much quieter and low key compared to north mission and I believe is much nicer and better suited to families and retired vacationers. Boardwalk is right in front of the property then a huge white sand beach then the Pacific Ocean. This is a beautiful location and a awesome place to live or visit. We loved our stay here. This is an authentic beach house. So cute and comfortable. Plenty of room for all of us. We loved the bikes, being at the quiet end of Mission Beach, stepping right from the patio to the sand, and walking around the neighborhood. We had take-out Thanksgiving dinner from Mimi’s and had everything we needed to re-heat and serve it. The house could use a deep cleaning. We would not hesitate to stay here again. It’s a great place!

Busy but quiet boardwalk right off the back patio, then the sand, then the ocean. Easy walk to Belmont park and food options. Very accurate to the listing. Would definitely return.

What an amazing week we had at Grace’s Beach House in Mission Beach. This house was a great place for our family to gather and spend some quality time together. Perfectly located near shops and restaurants and directly in front of the volleyball courts, we walked to most spots. Although right on the boardwalk, the home felt very private. Grace’s had everything that we needed to enjoy our week; kitchen equipment, beach towels and a ton of sand toys (even bikes). The owners were super accessible when I thought I had a problem with the dishwasher. Turned out it was operator error, argh! I highly recommend Grace’s for anyone looking to relax and reset.

This house was exactly what we were looking for to stay on Mission Beach! Private home, large outdoor patio on the Boardwalk in a place that was lively but not in the center of it all so still a bit quiet. We watched people play volleyball in front of our place every day and walked to the beach often. It was the perfect location with walking access to stores, coffee shops, restaurants and ice cream.
The home itself was clean and fully stocked with enough dishes, cooking utensils, beach towels and outdoor toys and games. There were 4 beach cruiser bikes which were perfect to bike the boardwalk and bayside. Really nice outdoor grill with plenty of propane. Easy check in and check out. The beds, bathrooms and showers were great. The living space and dining area also had plenty of seating for the 5 of us. The bonus indoor patio space was great for the one rainy day we had due to Hurricane Hilary. Also a great option to feel like you are outside when it may be too hot to sit on the patio.
The parking space is tight but we were able to fit a 7 passenger SUV in it. You just have to have passengers exit before parking.
We would HIGHLY recommend this rental. The price is very reasonable for the location and the great condition of the home. The owners were also great to work with! Thanks so much for a great vacation spot. We will be back!

House is older but well built, remodeled and outfitted with everything you need.

Cute beach house was perfect for our family get away. Loved the huge patio and the enclosed patio as well. The kitchen was big and included everything we needed. Loved the comfortable seating in the family room with a large tv. Wish the third bedroom had a tv too. View directly out of the patio are about a dozen volleyball courts which was fun to watch. Could see the ocean when looking to your right. Definitely the quieter part of Mission Beach. We enjoyed using the bikes at the property as well. We look forward to booking this house again soon!

It is difficult to summarize the overall experience of this vacation. There were 7 of us and not a single guest had a bad thing to say about the property or the vacation overall. Our experience with the owners was very pleasant and easy. We had the opportunity to meet Pat a few times and he is a great guy (I consider him a friend now). My wife who has been battling cancer for 3 years now found it extremely therapeutic and rejuvenating. The neighbors were also very friendly. The property was clean, location was perfect (not too close to Belmont, while not too far either). Relatively quite (we have been visiting Mission for over 20 years and this was the quietest location yet). I could go on but I am running out of space. Overall, we are grateful for the opportunity to stay here and look forward to returning. We rate this vacation and property 5 of 5. Lifetime memories were created here and we hope there are many more to come in the future. Sincerely - Kent

We had the best time at Grace’s beach house ! Such a clean and comfortable house. The beds were so comfortable . So many nice touches. The indoor and outdoor patios . We so enjoyed sitting there having breakfast and dinner. So relaxing!! It was fun watching people playing volleyball and going by. You couldn’t get closer to the beach. Mike and Pat were a dream to deal with. Can’t wait to come back!!!

The house was a great set up for our family of 4 adults and 3 children. Very well equipped kitchen. Had only minor WiFi problem and was addressed and fixed quickly. Owner Patrick very available for any questions or concerns. Good guy!! Had a wonderful vacay at Grace’s Beach House!

We had a wonderful stay at Grace's Beach House! The location is perfect for our family. We love being next to the beach and enjoy the south end of Mission Beach because it less crowded and much quieter, but still a close enough walk to Belmont Park. The house was prefect for our family (2 adults and 3 kids age 10-15). The beds were all very comfortable as is the living room and the covered and outdoor porches. The kitchen had everything we needed. We usually don't eat out so we used it and the outdoor BBQ quite a bit.
There is plenty of stuff provided for outdoor play - everything you need for the beach with kids (toys, boogie boards, chairs and towels) and we enjoyed using the bikes on the boardwalk.
We would absolutely stay in this home again on our next trip to San Diego.

This property was everything we could have hoped for. We loved waking up to a view of the ocean and the beach volleyball courts. Our kids could be playing in the sand and I could be in the house prepping a meal and still keep my eye on them. There were lots of games/puzzles, sand/beach toys, and bikes. We all enjoyed taking a bike ride down the path to Belmont Park. Communication with our hosts was great. We had so much fun and everyone was bummed we had to leave. It was a great holiday!

Our family had the perfect stay at this wonderful one-story 1960s era true beach home that has been fully restored. All imaginable amenities provided. It was great dealing with nearby owner as property manager instead of commercial agency. Be informed most SD beaches have jet noise, but Mission Beach is tolerable and easy to get used to as rhythmic white noise.

I already want to go back.. Maybe when it's a bit warmer. But with the cold comes an empty Beach. It was pretty nice having the beach all to ourselves. We three grandmas didn't go far, just the ocean. We looked for shells, and watched the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. The word I think of when I think of the inside of Grace's home is "effortless." It seemed like whatever I needed was there. The home is packed with everything from bikes to baby dishes. The beds are super comfortable. I don't usually sleep through the night, I just figured that was me. But I slept soundly all night long every night I was there.. We'll definitely be vacationing there again.

The house is only about 15 minutes from the San Diego airport and the family owners have kept their mother's home in great shape. It is beachy, cozy, quiet, convenienent and comfortable. You can sit on the patio, stroll down the strand or walk through soft sand to the Pacific ocean. You have a front row seat to spectacular sunsets. Highlights for us: Comfortable beds with nice linens. Beach chairs, towels, toys and boards. A good icemaker. Nice showers. A washer/dryer. Fans in every room to circulate the ocean breeze (no AC needed). A well-stocked kitchen and plenty of paper products. It's just a short walk to Belmont Park, and a short drive to lots of restaurants and fast food options. We loved the neighborhood, the proximity to everything, and the property was EXACTLY as advertised. We will be returning to this beautiful beach again with family and friends. Wonderful place!

Grace's place was a perfect fit for our family of 4 (including 2 teenagers). The location on south mission beach was more quiet and private than just a few steps north and had beautiful views of the beach, ocean, and sunsets. The house had everything we needed for the week, including boogie boards and bikes! We had plenty of space with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and the kitchen/living spaces. The covered patio was a great place to sit when we wanted to be out of the sun but still enjoy the views. The house is close enough to everything San Diego has to offer. We went to the zoo, a Padres game, La Jolla, and to various places in San Diego and rarely spent more than 20 minutes getting to where we wanted to go. I highly advise utilizing the public transit system. There are markets and plenty of great food/drink options within 1-2 miles of the house, which was perfect for the days we chose to be beach bums. Pat was amazing and we thank him for the help with a pesky feline issue. We 100% will stay here again if our travels bring us back to San Diego!

My husband, MIL and toddler stayed here and it was fabulous. The house itself is cozy, comfortable and plenty spacious for us. Having a washer and dryer was helpful with a toddler and speaking of toddler- they had kids plates and utensils and a high chair, booster seat, stroller, beach toys and even some swim diapers! Location was ideal for our desire for a chill, more relaxing part of Mission. Owners were helpful and reachable during our stay. Everything was well maintained including the patio furniture and bbq outside. We had fun riding the bikes they had on the boardwalk! Overall will definitely be staying again!

We really enjoyed the beach house! It was situated on a great beach and really enjoyed watching all of the beach activities on the sand, such as Volleyball, Whiffleball and frizbee. The kitchen was well stocked with all of the kitchen utensils one would need to prepare a great dinner.
