An interior design team has collaborated on this calming, contemporary and comfortable escape that also features some original artwork. Everything is walking distance; only 80 steps from the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Within 1-2 blocks, you’ll find cafes, breakfast/lunch establishments, bike/surf rental shops, and shopping. The neighborhood WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE; Cafes, Boutique shops, beach bars, Pizzeria, bike and sports equipment rentals, surf/sailing lessons, Ice cream shop , sandwich and taco shop , dinner restaurants, Paid parking lot across the street from us. Laundrymat is literally across the street, and offers fluff and fold in case you don't feel like doing laundry at the house. Liquor/ convenience store is about 3.5 blocks away. SLIGHTLY LONGER WALKING DISTANCE; • a large grocery store one mile away with CVS pharmacy nearby • Belmont amusement park or Crystal pier. • walk to a nearby spa hotel and enjoy sitting on the white sandy shores of the bay, their pool/spa/hotub for a fee. This hotel also is a stopping point for a large quaint public boat that has a dancing bar and it tours the bay. • rent sailing boats, ski boats, SUP boards, surf boards, etc. • lessons for aquatic sports or weekly (full or half) day camps for the kids. • public tennis and basketball courts within 3 min walk! • rental bikes to bike around the bay or along the ocean coast. * Farmers Market.

What a great way to spend our intimate gathering to celebrate my best friend's bachelorette party by the beach. It was just steps away to the beach and so many nearby cute bars/restaurants to check out. The host was incredible with setting up a nice snack basket with great coupons to local coffee shops and even cute mini facial packets for us. A great stay. Highly recommend!

The house was in excellent shape and the hosts included so many personal touches, including snacks, toiletries, and baby items. We loved taking walks along the boardwalk (steps from the front of the house), many of which involved observing dolphins and surfers. Wonderful breakfast and coffee spots are walkable. We also spent a lot of time enjoying the rooftop. Overall, our group had an amazing time. I will note for future guests to pay attention that check-in is not until 5:00 pm and checkout is at 10 am. Karen and Khin will accommodate adjustments when they can but just take note in case you have timing constraints. Thanks for a great stay!!

We celebrated our dad's 80th birthday with 8 of us and it was the perfect spot and the communication with the owner was incredible. And, they even set up bday decorations and gave lots of amenities. Great owners, great place!

This property was perfect. Very clean, plenty of room, and kitchen was well stocked. Location is great- right by the beach. Has everything you need for a day at the beach. Host was fantastic. We would definitely stay here again.

our stay was incredible. the location was perfect. a short walk to the beach and the house had towels, chairs, and toys that we could borrow. we walked to mission beach restaurants and the grocery store was a short drive. the house so clean and organized—they had everything we needed for us and our three kids. the hosts were so kind. they left snacks for us and were very communicative. this was such a great place!

"Modern Sandcastle" had everything we needed. It truly is steps from the beach. There is plenty of space and sleeping quarters. We enjoyed relaxing on the upstairs patio when we weren't at the beach. The kitchen is perfectly equipped. The walk-way street kept the front patio peaceful for BBQing. The double garage was perfect for our Nissan Van. There were plenty of beach chairs, toys, and boogie boards! The property owners were responsive and accommodating.

Great house, great location! The house was exactly as advertised, and the property owners were very responsive whenever we needed them. I will definitely recommend this place in the future.

Great, clean, newer place. Bedrooms were nice, living space was pretty small. We had 4 adults and 5 kids and we couldn't all be in the living room together, but then again, we didn't spend much time in the house. The owners were super nice and quick to respond. No ocean view from roof deck really, but it was a nice place to relax. Thanks again!!

Great, clean, newer place. Bedrooms were nice, living space was pretty small. Weve stayed at 3 different places in this area. This was by far the most up to date rental and well stocked with everything we needed to be comfortable including shampoos, soups, and snacks.

Perfect location!
It is our second time staying in this lovely home. It is located perfectly about 200 Steps From The Boardwalk. We really enjoyed spending time on the boardwalk, relaxing on the beach using the bird scootets, beach cruisers to go up and down the boardwalk and Belmont Park. The house was very well stocked with everything that we needed from pots and pans to linen and also beach chairs, umbrellas and stuff to build sand castles and frisbees. Anything that you can think of! In light of my husbands birthday, they left a lovely birthday card as a greeting long with a bottle of Patron as a gift. We double and triple checked that we packed all of our things and later found that I left my perfume behind. They were very kind and mailed it to us. We were met with great hospitality and we will most definitely visit again!

This was our second stay at this home. It was just as great as we remembered - clean, well stocked and steps away from the beach. I highly recommend this place.

Great place to stay close to the ocean
We had a wonderful time with our family of 11. The accommodations were new, clean and kept up. The home is so close to the beach and board walk, restaurants and entertainment. Every morning we walked to the coffee shop (two within a couple blocks). We walked to Mission Beach Bay and rented a sail boat. Our favorite was renting the ubiquitous Bird scooters and exploring. The owners supplied beach chairs, umbrellas, cooler and beach toys for the kids. The owners went extra lengths to make are stay enjoyable.

Everything you need is in this house from sun screen to snacks. Owners were more than accomadating with our travel plans. Great location about a minute walk to the sand. House was really nice and up to date, would book again next time we are in san Diego.

We stayed this past weekend at the Modern Sandcastle with 11 of my good girlfriends. Great location, immaculate, responsive owners, and overall great value. While this place was perfect for a group of friends, I'd love to plan another trip with my husband and baby daughter - it's perfectly versatile!

We enjoyed our stay at the modern sandcastle very much. The house is beautiful and a great layout for families. The beach is truly only a few steps away and with the beach chairs and boogie boards available it made for a very easy trip. The hosts could not have been accommodating. They were always available and quick to respond. The only problem was a result of our rental van being too tall to fit into the garage. Parking was a bit of an issue but the hosts had pointed out several alternative opportunities before we had even arrived. We would gladly stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

Clean, Bright, Close to Beach!
My family and I had an incredible time. Everyone had their own bathroom, which is wonderful for a large family.
The house doesn't require keys, only a code for the door and garage. This made life so much easier going back and forth to the beach (the beach is literally 30 seconds away!)
We had an incredible time and HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this rental.
