About this house rental
Situated in Trinidad, this charming house for $418 per night is a great option for your next break. Guest reserving home must be 25 years or older, be staying at the property the entire time and will be considered the responsible party for this booking. This home IS pet friendly for a maximum of 2 dogs only, pet fees will apply. Dog must not be left unattended inside or outside of the home. *Coastal trail access from the home temporarily closed for repairs this winter. Trinidad State Beach is 1/2 mile away and is dog friendly with a leash law enforced. Pelican's Nest is located in a quiet neighborhood on a private street. This beautiful home sits in close proximity to the homes adjacent homes so is not well suited for large, noisy gatherings. This home is perfect for small families, or adults looking for a peaceful, relaxing getaway. No garage parking available. There are two compact guest parking spaces on the driveway and one additional parking spot for daytime visitors. No additional street parking available. This Cape Cod style house is perfect for the book & beach lover. It is in town and boasts sweeping ocean views. Cozy up and read by the wood burning stove, play a game or just take in the seascape below. Pelican’s Nest has a great nautical, beach style décor. This home is whimsical and full of character. The main level offers an open eat in kitchen with large pantry that is a cook's delight. This opens to the living, dining room, and deck so one can cook while taking in the ocean views. The great room also has oak floors, a picnic style dining table, sofa & chairs and a flat-screen T.V. Both bedrooms have Tempurapedic beds. The second bedroom and bathroom with tub/shower are on the main floor. This bedroom has a queen bed, small T.V., lots of books and is very cozy. Upstairs the large main bedroom features a king bed with romantic balcony to allow you to take in the sweeping ocean views below. This room has bamboo floors, a wet bar, very small T.V. and ocean views even from the bathtub/shower! The large ensuite bathroom also serves as a closet/dressing room and has a fun play loft for older children (accessible by ladder not suitable for young children). The garden offers a lovely meditation bench overlooking the coastline. All of this beauty and comfort plus your pets are welcome too! Enjoy some fun in the garage with a pool table that also converts into a ping pong table. *Please Note: The owners of Pelican's Nest have their own private retreat below the property. They like to think of it as their "Writer's Workshop". Since they live in nearby Arcata, they occasionally retreat to their workshop during the day but will not bother you during your vacation. They are very friendly and if you should see them coming or going please feel free to say hello and ask them any questions about their home or the greater Trinidad area. They have great stories to share!

what a beautiful view! we loved everything about our stay and our dog did too. the one negative is the property's path to the trail to the beach. it was not maintained-- bushes aren't cut back, etc. and I fell and sprained my finger! It was so swollen but thankfully not broken. we recommend not using the property's path down but to walk around the trailhead until the path is better maintained. other than that, it was a lovely property and our dog loved it and the town of trinidad is wonderul!

A very quiet and peaceful location overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The home was rustic and met our needs. We loved the interior designs depicting ocean decorum. Everything about our stay was awesome.

We loved staying at this beautiful property with a spectacular ocean view. In the master bedroom you can wake up and watch the sunrise. The sunsets are gorgeous from both the bedroom and the entire downstairs living area. Both floors also have ocean facing decks to relax on. The location is on a bluff in a quiet, private residential neighborhood with easy access to trails, restaurants, and stores.

We couldn’t have found a better place to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary! The views from the house were breathtaking, the location was great and the town of Trinidad was so quaint and peaceful. We enjoyed eating at The Eatery for several meals and pizza from Headies was delicious! The house was perfect, comfy beds and furniture. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

Everything was lovely and clean and such a beautiful view! The pool table was fun. My only issue was that the upstairs bed was very worn out and very uncomfortable. I'd return in a heartbeat if that mattress were replaced, but I wouldn't go back if it weren't.

We stayed at this lovely home with our son and his girlfriend. The location was perfect on a quiet street and within walking distance to the grocery store, many restaurants, and the beach. The beds and furniture were super comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. We enjoyed the wood burning stove, decks with gorgeous views of the harbor, and spacious feel of the home. My son and his girlfriend enjoyed the privacy of the downstairs bedroom and we enjoyed the large upstairs suite. The pool table in the garage was an added bonus. We look forward to staying here again.

It was the spur of a moment decision to head for the coast. In one week, we were treated to every imaginablevarsity of costal weather(rain, clouds and sun). The location was excellent. We could walk to the restaurant and store. Our dog Siggi loved romping on the beaches and in the redwoods. We were well pleased with all aspects of our visit.

This house was so beautiful and so comfy. I wish i could live there all the time. short trail to a small beach which was perfect for our dog. everything is close by so walking was our main way of getting around.

We had a great time in Trinidad. The view cannot be beat. Great walk to the beach behind the house and to the local beach with parking. The town is so charming. Plenty of pots and pans and a great kitchen to cook in.

This was our type of “Big Screen” to watch. We arrived the evening of the huge storm with 50mph winds. The house creaked and rattled all night, but as with any well-built house on the coast, it truly weathered the storm. The next morning we awoke from the tempest to out lovely ocean view. Over the next four days that view grew better and better. The house is a perfect place to just relax, read, chat, enjoy a drink, and then take a little walk around Trinidad. We will definitely be back.

Pelican’s Nest is a perfect place for a relaxing vacation. The home is beautiful and decorated with beautiful things, plants and pictures. The home was spotless. We loved every inch of the home and the ocean views are spectacular from the living area and the master bedroom. Our dog loved the deck and running around the house. Our 8 year old granddaughter was enamored with the home and the ping pong table etc. Said it was the best place she had been to. Can walk to the store and lovely shops in town and walking to the beach is very close. Great restaurants In town and a close drive to Arcata which is a fun place. I would certainly recommend this home.

This is one of the best rentals I've ever stayed in. It has incredible views, is clean and well-furnished with comfortable beds and furniture, clear instructions, and everything you could want to make for a fantastic vacation. I especially appreciated that the house was dog-friendly, so my two furry friends could enjoy the beauty of Humboldt County with me. The house felt like home, and I can't wait to return.

We were looking for a dog friendly getaway out of the triple digits and definitely found that here. Plenty of Dog trials and beaches, Arcata Community forest was great. This home's views can't be beat and I love the location. The home was clean but I do think they would benefit from changing some of the decor that could be dusted bc some there were items pretty covered (seen in previous review). My husband was not fond of the giant plant hanging over his side of the bed but he got over it. Windowsills could use a vacuum of dead bugs. Screens on sliders were pushed out but we notified manager. The bed was very comfortable but creaky when getting up during the night but didn't bother us. Kitchen was very clean and well stocked although we ate out most of the time. The stairs may be steep to some. i think they would benefit from removing the existing area rugs as they were stained and our dogs were dog odors though or hair anywhere so if they changed these out to something that could be laundered might be better. Bedding was great (I looked for tag I liked them so much) couches were comfortable. Plenty of hot water- although the double shower curtain was weird. Maybe a tension rod inside of the window would be better option. There is no back yard and very little grass in front yard. We had asked about this prior to renting and was under thr impression there was a front yard (most is sea grass and bushes). It wasn't as much of a issue though bc you can walk dogs right down the street to grassy area along the street/lighthouse cliffs. This is a nice house in a very quiet location that with some updating and simplifying decor would be amazing. While the price was alittle steep we realize your paying for the view. It's a great dog rental and I would rent it again.

Amazing location
Location was everything !! We loved being close to town and to the beach trail. It gave our teens the opportunity to roam without us and they loved that freedom.
Overall vibe of the place was great. It felt relaxed and easy. Quiet and beautiful.
We even enjoyed hanging in garage, playing pool and ping pong; all while I was able to do a load of laundry after our Ferm Canyon hike. So EXCELLENT for families with teens!
Negatives
1) cleanliness
The main things were clean and tidy, so overall it was ok. But sofa still had dog hair from last guest and one of the upholstered chairs smelled terrible and we could not use.
Also, every window opened had dead bugs and dirt in sills. The kitchen vent didn't work and coffee maker worked 2 out of 3 mornings. Master bath had no towel bars, no garbage can and the robes provided had makeup and hair on them from previous guests. So those details did deter from my overall comfort, but my kids were happy and we had a great time. Perhaps just a little more attention to details is called for.
2) communications
Came through email instead of VRBO app. Which meant they went to my spam folder and I missed them. I prefer to keep all communications in the VRBO app. More streamlined and less to keep track of.
