The space
Tucked in the forest. Minutes from the lake. Easy access to Northstar.
Welcome to our family refuge in North Lake Tahoe—one of our favorite places on earth. This classic 1,200 sq. ft. Tahoe cabin is less than a 5-minute walk from beautiful Moon Dunes Beach, giving you easy access to the lake while still feeling wonderfully tucked away in the woods.
From the backyard, cross the seasonal creek and follow the forest trail toward the lake. In summer, explore miles of hiking and biking trails, spend the day at the beach, or head into Kings Beach for dinner and activities. In winter, the same peaceful surroundings become a great place for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
After a day outside, come back to the cabin, start a fire, relax in the living room, or settle into our cozy window seat with a cup of coffee while enjoying views of the forest, meadow and seasonal creek.
The Cabin
This is a classic Old Tahoe mountain cabin—cozy, comfortable and full of character. It isn't a large modern luxury home, and that's part of what makes it special. The cabin has the warm, relaxed feel of a traditional Tahoe retreat and is designed for spending time together.
The open living area features vaulted ceilings, a fireplace and a well-equipped kitchen, making it easy to cook meals, and unwind together.
Outside, the backyard borders the forest, meadow and seasonal creek. Enjoy a family meal outside, read a book, listen to the creek, watch for wildlife or simply relax and enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature.
Step out the back door and you're connected to a network of forest trails leading toward the lake and beach.
During winter, the Kings Beach Highway 267 route to Northstar can help avoid the long Truckee delays when traffic is heavy.
Sleeping Arrangements
The cabin sleeps up to 6 guests:
Downstairs
1 king bedroom near the kitchen and bathroom
Upstairs
1 small bedroom with a queen bed
1 small bedroom with 2 twin beds
Please note: The upstairs bedrooms are cozy, and the cabin has narrow, steep open stairs. The single bathroom is downstairs.

Wonderful getaway for our family. The kitchen is very well stocked, location is fabulous, and we had so much fun exploring the woods behind the cabin. Highly recommend!
We just returned from a fabulous extended weekend at North Lake Tahoe where we stayed at the Tahoe Vista Cabin. For starters, every communication with the owner - from getting our questions answered before our trip to checking out yesterday, was timely, friendly, and helpful. The house was a great match for our 5 person family (with 11-year old twins and their grandmother) and exceeded our already high expectations which we had based on the description of the property. We love to cook and found everything we needed from the superbly stocked and equipped kitchen to the BBQ setup and tools. The location is fabulous, in a quiet cul-de-sac near a creek yet only about 5 walking minutes away from the beach. The kids loved the spacious backyard, creek, basketball hoop, and choice of games (the special checkers board was a big hit). Everything was nice, working well, and very comfortable. In addition, there are tons of fun things to do around - for example, we spent several hours tree climbing with North Tahoe Adventures on their treetop adventures park near Tahoe City, and enjoyed the gorgeous scenery for many hours on the beaches, including renting kayaks and stand-up paddle boards out of Kings Beach. The Moondunes Beach close to the house is lovely - quieter than Kings Beach, very shallow and thus safe with kids. And there is nothing better than going for a nice ice cream at the close by Cable Car Ice Cream stand after returning from the beach!
Overall we had a great time and will definitely be back. After several trips to South Lake Tahoe in the past we now have found a great destination at North Lake Tahoe.
The owner responded to my request to book pretty much immediately and was communicating very clearly prior to and throughout our stay. The cabin is exactly how it is described and so it the neighborhood. We stayed with kids ages ranging from 7 to 18 and everyone loved the cabin and the location. We walked to the beach, on the trails right outside of the house, walked to town and did not need to drive anywhere! The stay was perfect and we hope to be back.
Our weekend trip to the Tahoe Vista Forest Cabin was absolutely wonderful! The cabin is warm and cozy and has all the amenities needed for a perfect vacation. It's next to open forest land and just a short walk down to the Lake. The host was extremely responsive to any questions we had. Great location, cabin, and overall experience. We can't wait to go back!
Our stay was very comfortable, the cabin is very cozy, clean and well located and has everything needed for a great holiday. We highly recommend.
“Great time, great location!”
We loved our stay at this cabin. This was our first time at Tahoe and was beautiful. The cabin was very homey and comfortable. It easily accomadated our family of 2 adults and 3 children. The kids really enjoyed the toys. It was like we were staying at a friends house for a long weekend. The owners were very easy to work with, and we had no issues through the whole process. We highly recommend this rental!
We booked this cabin for a group of 8 people and it was the perfect size for everyone. There were enough beds for everyone to sleep comfortably (including the pull-out bed in the living room). The neighborhood was very safe and quiet at night, although a neighbor did warn us about coyotes in the early morning/late evening, so be careful if you're bringing pets along. I must mention: this cabin is stocked with EVERYTHING. Literally, everything! The kitchen has pots, pants, baking utensils, dinnerware of all shapes and sizes. If you are bringing children along, there is a play room and a bunch of board games. There is a laundry room in the back that is great if you have any wet clothing items. This is the ideal space for a small (less than 10 people) group, and especially for those who might want to bring their kids along.
"Just had a fantastic stay at the Tahoe Vista cabin during Christmas week. It's very conveniently located near the 267 / 28 junction, but also far enough from the noise of cars to get some solitude. There are plenty of trails steps away from the cabin. The cabin was perfect for our family of 4 and was equipped with everything you needed for a good week of family time. Netflix, board games, really good coffee complaints. The owners were very communicative and helpful as well. Highly recommended, great value."
We had a great weekend at the cabin - it was very clean and well stocked, with clear instructions on how things worked and where to find them. We would love to stay again!
Awesome cabin! nice mix of updated features and rustic-ness. Fireplace was great. I have to admit even the netflix connected blu-ray player was great! Smooth arrival and departure procedures!
The owners were great hosts! We made a trip to Tahoe during Martin Luther King long weekends but we still need to go to work on Monday. They were flexible enough to reduce the minimum night of stay from 3 nights to 2 nights for us, which was superb. The Cabin is equipped with everything you need. And they provided us with a very lovely instruction menu prior our arrival. The Cabin was warm and there was a awesome fire place in the living room.
"We enjoyed our stay at the Tahoe Vista Cabin. Great location at the edge of a forested area and proximity to many Tahoe amenities. Cabin was clean and inviting. Well-stocked kitchen was great for cooking dinner one evening. I'm all for building a roaring wood fire, but the remote-controlled gas fireplace won me over as a favorite feature! Would definitely return for a North Lake trip in the future."
