'The Stairs' go from downtown Hood River up to the 'The Heights' of Hood River. Locals use 'The Stairs' to work out or get from point A to B without needing to drive. There are also five parks within 5 minutes of the house. We live in Hood River and chose this home because of its views and that it truly is located downtown. Take a stroll in the morning for coffee at Doppio or have the biggest homemade cinnamon roll or breakfast sandwich at Bette's Restaurant. A taxi is not needed at the end of the night after enjoying your weekend away! Walking distance to so many of our favorite restaurants. Also walking distance to brew pubs such as Full Sail and Double Mountain or The Pines, Cerulean and Stave and Stone Wineries. Skylight theatre is also steps away and you can enjoy pizza, salads, beer or wine while you watch your movie! A few minutes from boating, stand-up paddle boarding, kite boarding, wind surfing, and fishing on the Columbia River. 35 miles to Mt Hood Meadows ski resort, 25 miles to family-friendly Cooper Spur Ski Resort, 50 miles to year-round snow at Timberline Lodge and 21 miles to snow parks for tubing. This is a ONE LEVEL home with steps from the street up to the house. The window upstairs is an attic window. Bedroom 1: Calif. queen bed, river views Bedroom 2: Queen bed, river views Living room:Queen hide a bed with memory foam mattress. Desk w/chair. New furniture and rug, Oct 2021, tv/Roku stick/dvd player, wood stove (provide your own wood) Kitchen: Full remodel Jan. 2023. Dishwasher, Pots/pans, coffee maker (no coffee), blender, crockpot, toaster oven, microwave, spices Laundry room: Washer/dryer, laundry soap Bathroom: tub/shower, towels, soap, 2 beach towels, shampoo, conditioner Sleeps 5 adults Huge deck with river views (patio table, BBQ, firewood for wood stove indoors) Parking is on the street. Parking after 5pm M-Fri. is easier to find. Wifi internet/No cable tv Notice: there are stairs going up to the house. Not handicap accessible. NO air conditioning however guests say house stays cool in summer. Has floor fans. No pets allowed. Check in 4pm (no early check ins if prior guests departed on same day). Overall our stay was fantastic and we liked the place. Loved how close to town it was. Really fun to be at a restaurant or the movies in a few short blocks. Didn't get used to always hearing the freeway though. Cozy home with lots of good amenities including provided firewood, bbq, and lots of kitchen items. Upon arrival there was only 1 extra roll of TP, 2 dishwasher tablets, and half a roll of paper towels. They are listed under "amenities" but you do have to provide your own if anything runs out while your there. The beds were comfortable and the master bedroom very spacious. It was treacherous to walk the lower stairs in the dark so we strung up some of our white Christmas lights down there, had to buy an extension cord, but otherwise we almost fell a few times on the stairs in the dark. With our lights it was safe and welcoming. Nice view, and it felt like a very safe location with the sheriff office right across the street! The owner was fantastic about replying to our messages immediately when we had a couple little things come up. For example the garbage disposal stopped working so the kitchen sink wouldn't drain, and she had a handyman over right away to fix it! I disliked having to always message through VRBO instead of going to email or text, but that pales in comparison to her responsiveness. We'd stay there again for sure.

Perfect location for kite-boarders, 5 minute drive from Event Site, unobstructed view on the river, you can see if your buddies are already on the water. A few blocks away from restaurants and businesses, yet on a very quiet street. House is very clean and well equipped for a few month stay. We'll be back!

We were attending a family event in Hood River and would have needed 2 hotel rooms. This was an excellent alternative. Awesome location - literally everything was within walking distance. River views from the family room and deck were amazing. Well equipped, clean and comfortable.

Walking distance to EVERYTHING in the center of hood river, including the event site. We had access to all the shop and restaurants. I could even walk to the event site (about 3/4 of a mile) to go kite if I didn't want to try and park. The views from the deck are great and the house is roomier than we expected.

Clean house close to downtown. Just one set of stairs separates you from all the spots. The neighborhood is very safe, the County Sherrif's office is directly across the street.

Large living room and kitchen with all the tools including spices. Good info on local restaurants. $75 cleaning fee was high when we only used the coffee maker and were only two people. Otherwise for four staying for a few days it’s wonderful.

This was our second stay in this home. Absolutely love Hood River and staying here makes me feel like a local. I love how everything is only a 5 minute walk away. I love the view of the river and the bridge - every morning I get up early, it’s still dark, my family is still sleeping. I put on a pot of coffee and sit in the comfy chair in the living room and look out at the river and the car headlights starting to come across the bridge from White Salmon, WA. I find it magical. On this visit we discovered the absolutely FREE ski shuttle from Hood River (walkable from the house, but we drove due to all the ski gear) to Meadows Ski Area. Best part: we sent our teens on the shuttle to ski for the day and my husband and I had time in Hood River to relax and explore. I hope you enjoy this home away from home as much as we do.

This was a mother daughters weekend. The location of the house made easy walking to the vast variety of stores, restaurants, coffee shops, tasting rooms, etc. After our walks around town, we enjoyed coming back to the comfortable living room, with a view of the Colombia River. The well supplied kitchen had all that we needed to prepare our meals. Although the weather was a little damp, we spent a little time on the spacious deck furnished with comfy chairs and sofa. There is also a large barbecue for warmer drier days. We had a wonderful time in this sweet house reminiscing, chattering and enjoying the beautiful town of Hood River. We decided to make it an annual event.

This is a perfect vacation rental in Hood River. The location is perfect, a few stairs and your in the heart of downtown. The size is great for maybe a family of 2 adults and 3 kids. The couch futon is more comfortable than the beds (and I still liked the beds). The view is beautiful. Parking is not too bad, but once you park you barely need your car anyway. Nice big bathroom. We will definitely stay here again!

We had a fabulous week in Hood River. The location of the home was the perfect spot to walk to town and it was a prime location for viewing the July 4th Fireworks Show! A few things that would have helped - refrig is too small for a family for a week. This was a big problem for us. And it is not working very well. Kitchen needs a hand mixer or a functioning blender (broken).

We had a really good stay in this property. The owners have thought of a lot of little details - like laundry soap and laundry baskets, and shampoo - that made it feel like a home away from home. The location was excellent - quick walk to shops and anything you'd want in town and amazing view. We'd stay here again!

We had a lovely wintertime stay in this cute house. The town is walking distance from all the fabulous boutiques, wine tasting, breweries and eateries. We arrived on a very, very cold and snowy day and the house took a little while to warm up, but once we settled in, it was very comfortable. Thank you Debbi for a wonderful time!
