Situated in Carmel by the Sea, this lovely cottage for $550 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. Overlooking green fields adjacent to the 18th. century Carmel Mission and a beach beyond "Atherton Cottage" is a house that is bright quiet cozy retreat.This spotless eco-friendly cottage has a comfy king Sleep Number bed with Luxury linens, and is cleaned with organic products.Recently remodeled with hand-hewn hickory hardwood & stone floors,Quartz counters & new bath. Also has a "Life Source"- whole house water filter System. Come and be enchanted at Atherton Cottage! The Cottage is set up to accommodate: 2 adults or 4 adults and 1 child comfortably. There is an adult size futon that makes into a bed with a memory foam topper.There is also an inflatable bed available with bedding if needed for an extra guest! The living room Tempurpedic sofa also opens up to a very comfortable King bed with luxury linens,There is an extra charge of $50.00 per person with over two people staying, this charge applies to persons over two years old, per night. Children under two years old are a one time fee of $50.00 and infants under two years old there is no charge.

This is a beautiful get-away spot. Gorgeous gardens and easy access to the best of Carmel sights. Quiet, well appointed, and comfortable. We highly recommend this house for a stay in beautiful Carmel.

Our host, Bill covered everything in detail. He gave us lots of tips on local walks, restaurants, and more. We had everything we needed, and the cottage was very nicely decorated. The beds are extremely comfortable. One of the highlights is the deck off of the family room. In the distance, you can see the ocean, and when it is quiet, you can hear the ocean. Great location to walking trail, CrossRoads, for any grocery needs and easy access to downtown. Loved our stay.

Adorable cottage near downtown carmel. Smaller than expected, but functional. Could use some upgrading and declutterring. The sleep number is not a true sleep number bed, but a close knock off. The property manager was very nice, but on the property a lot. The location is great and close to a nice trailhead that leads into downtown carmel. We loved the deck space and cozy bathroom.

Atherton Cottage has been perfect for my wife, two pups and me. We have stayed there four times now. Bill has done it all to make sure our stay is as comfortable as possible. Location is convenient for golf, the beach, great restaurants and walks on the Mission Trail. We can't wait to come back and highly recommend Atherton Cottage to anyone looking for a place to enjoy beauty Carmel.

the place was in a great location with access to everything within a few minutes yet felt very secluded--with three private decks, a lower garden, two gas burning fireplaces and good parking. Our dog came along and the fenced lower garden was very convenient. Host David met us and got us oriented to the home quickly and efficiently. Kitchen is well stocked with good quality spices, oils and cooking utensils. We would definitely return here. The nicely furnished cottage was perfect for us and exploring the Community and surrounding areas made for a great getaway. Thank You David!

We spent 4 nights here in conjunction with an event at the Laguna Seca racetrack. Everything went smoothly. The cottage is well equipped and close to restaurants, grocery stores and downtown Carmel. Enjoyed our time here and would rent here again.

This home was very clean and comfortable. The owners really care about the property and it definitely shows. The view was beautiful and we were able to walk to downtown Carmel. We wish that we could have stayed longer.

Atherton Cottage out did its pictures. Wonderful, immaculate property with all conveniences you could ever need. The Crossroads shopping center was just a mile away with everything from River House Books to Safeway.
When we arrived Bill spent 30 minutes with our onboarding and then at our last minute request made up the queen size sofa bed which had an amazingly comfortable tempur-pedic mattress. We flipped coins and my friend got the pull-out and raved about it!
I love to walk and this was the perfect spot to start from. Just down the road was the historic Spanish Mission and just a few blocks beyond the Mission Ranch Inn & Restaurant where we had stayed 30 years earlier - spruced up over the years but still rustic and warming with wonderful food. From there the walk out along Scenic Road that skirts the ocean was breath taking.
When we booked the four nights we did not realize this was the famous (infamous?) car week that turns the entire Monterey peninsula into wall to wall traffic. How wonderful to have this quiet beautiful cottage to retreat to where in the evenings we watched the last 4 episodes of Ted Lasso on the big screen TV.

The Atherton Cottage was one of the most relaxing and peaceful places I have experienced. Bill, the owner, is so great. He walked us through the property which was super helpful, he gave great recommendations for groceries and restaurants (definitely check out Bruno's downtown), and he was a text away if we needed anything. Super private surroundings with beautiful foliage. The pictures don't do it justice! Bed was very comfortable. Very close to both downtown Carmel/beaches, as well as convenient shopping at the Crossroads Shopping Center on the other side of Hwy 1. I highly recommend it!

Beautifully landscaped foliage outside with a tastefully decorated interior makes this a lovely sanctuary.
There is plenty of outdoor space for lounging, relaxing, grilling, dining, or enjoying a cup of coffee as the sun rises.
It was perfect for us two, but there is room for more with a luxury pull-out sofa in the living room.
It is located close to many of Carmel's and Monteray's famous landmarks, shopping, and culinary delights yet far enough away from the crowds.
We were delighted to find we only had a 7-minute drive from the airport when we arrived late in the evening. Which meant we didn't waste precious vacation time getting there. The closeness to the airport does not mean a noisy stay!
There are a number of stairs to get to the property's front door. Although I wore a knee brace, I had no difficulty. There is a second entry that is less of an incline.
It is quiet and safe, with many high-end features from the comfy adjustable bed to plush blankets, you can tell it is well cared for, and thoughtfully arranged and Bill has taken great pride in providing amenities to help his guest feel comfortable. We felt at home and welcomed by Bill's hospitality.
If you're looking for a place to draw away and find rest, we highly recommend Atherton Cottage.

We just stayed 2 nights but really enjoyed the cottage. It was cozy and comfortable and the peace and quiet was very appreciated. The cottage has a lot of great amenities although it would take a longer stay to enjoy all of them.

Bill was an exceptional host! He was very kind and friendly. When I arrived he gave me a short 5 minute tour of the property and then left me on my own, I never saw him again, but he was available by text any time I had a problem. The cottage was perfect! It had everything I needed and many personal touches. The two gas fireplaces and outdoor spaces were really nice :) This is how a VRBO stay should be. I felt right at home. I would definitely stay again!

The cottage is a quaint, very clean, and thoughtfully laid out property. We spent two nights here with our pup, and particularly enjoyed the privacy and multitude of outdoor areas the cottage offers. Bill was also a terrific host. He gave us a full rundown of the property upon arrival (which was late), and was communicative throughout our stay. 10/10 would stay again!

We had an excellent stay at Bill’s house! He was very knowledgeable about places to eat, hiking, and the region. He is extremely attentive to all details and the house is well appointed with everything you need.
There are many outdoor decks overlooking gorgeous landscaping. We ate in one night and used the very cool mini convection oven, and there is every utensil you could want. The bed is super comfortable and even adjustable.
The location is close to Carmel by the Sea and you can walk or take a 5-minute drive into town. Spectacular hiking is just 10-15 minutes drive at Point Lobos, Soberanes Canyon or any of the beaches.
We highly recommend!

Upon our arrival, the owner kindly showed me around and pointed out all of the amenities. The house is decorated with high quality furnishings and every consideration was taken to insure any guest would feel that they were staying at the highest quality accommodations. My husband and I decided to skip the family gatherings this year for Christmas and find a little getaway with our two miniature schnauzers. We couldn’t have chosen a better place to spend the weekend. Bill was an amazing host and showed us around the property on the first day. You can tell he has put so much love and passion into this space; aside from the great cottage itself there are winding paths and secret gardens to enjoy. The place is just a short jaunt from a great dog beach and wonderful neighborhoods to walk through. And downtown Carmel is only a matter of minutes away in a car. The cottage met all of our expectations. It was clean, had nicely updated appliances, and a fireplace in each room to keep things cozy. We will definitely be going back soon!

The cottage is very private and the grounds are beautiful. The deck off the kitchen is very nice and stays warm due to the glass enclosure.
The bed is very comfortable and the host, Bill provided us with all the information we needed for
our stay and there were ample amenities.
