(For larger groups, ask about Cedar Place which is another flat right next door to Pine Place.) So much more than an apartment, this downtown residence sleeps up to four guests. This upper-floor flat that looks out over the treetops in Carmel-by-the-Sea is ideally situated just steps from fine dining, art galleries and shopping in the downtown area, with nearby theater and music venues within walking distance. The 800-square-foot residence is right in the heart of Carmel, making it easy to park your car nearby and go on foot to many different attractions. Set within a quintessential Carmel-by-the-Sea courtyard, the apartment is just steps away from the acclaimed Village Gem restaurant and many others that are within a few blocks. By car, it’s just a few minutes to the beach, or 10 minutes to the world-class golf courses and restaurants of Pebble Beach®, to Monarch butterfly sightings in Pacific Grove, or to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row. Other attractions within a half hour’s drive are the natural wonders of Big Sur and wine tasting and dining in Carmel Valley Village. Living Space with Sleeping Option The 1+ bedroom, 1-bath apartment with upscale Asian and minimalist modern décor offers large west-facing windows that let in plenty of natural light. Original artwork and eclectic furnishings complete the ambiance. A sitting area in the living room features a sofa, accent tables and a flat screen TV. The elevated open-concept living area also features a king-sized bed with side tables and lamps. From the bed, enjoy views of either the downtown lights of Carmel or the 60-inch HDTV in the common living room space. Kitchen and Dining The kitchen features a double sink, newer appliances, white cabinetry and a marble-topped kitchen island. Please note, kitchen does not have a dishwasher. An adjacent dining area offers seating for four around a glass-topped table, with beautiful views through the upper-story windows. Bedroom and Bathroom The bedroom features a queen bed, original artwork and a 42-inch HDTV. The bathroom offers a tub/shower combo, a large mirror and tiled vanity counter top. The unique layout of the bathroom allows guests to walk through a portion of the bathroom into the bedroom from the living area while keeping the water closet and tub/shower separate. The second sleeping space is in the living area as described above. Downtown parking can be a challenge. A few off-street parking spaces are available on a first come, first served basis. Time restricted parking is available on the street in front of the flat and a few blocks away there is unrestricted street parking. The City of Carmel also has several downtown parking lots with unlimited timing, including one near the flat on Torres and 3rd. Note: Across the street and down the block there is an ongoing construction project. The flat does not have a washer and dryer but Sanctuary can suggest local places where Guests can do their laundry if needed. **Dog accepted with homeowner approval; size and breed restrictions plus pet fee and signed pet addendum are required.** This vacation home is professionally managed by Sanctuary Vacation Rentals. Loved this upstairs flat near the upper part of Ocean Ave. The location was excellent for to walking to restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, the cheese store, and the local grocer. It also had nice touches like a bottle of wine, and cheese and crackers for us on arrival, coffee, tea, and microwave popcorn (which my children especially liked). There is a big construction project occurring across the street at started at 7:30AM on Monday morning, but hopefully it is completed soon! I also appreciated the containers of soaps and conditioner in the bath (no individual plastic containers!) and Britain’s water filter in the frig! Beds were comfy, too!

Escaping some family tension, we retreated to this lovely flat very centrally located in beautiful Carmel. We were able to walk through downtown, to dinner, and down to the beach to enjoy the spectacular sunsets... The kitchen was more than adequate for us to cook a bone-in turkey breast, various sides, and two pies from scratch. Really a great stay!

Nice place to stay when visiting Carmel--close to everything! 1 bathroom was a little tough to manage & very old school but clean. Check in was a little stressful as was called 2 days beforehand by managing agent saying I had to fill out more paperwork besides VRBO but we got through.

This rental was perfect for anyone wanting to be close to all the shops, restaurants, and the beach. It actually has one of the most tasteful restaurants right across from the stairway (Carmels Hidden Gem) and a short walk to Ocean Ave for shops and eats as well as a peaceful 15 minute walk to the beach as you pass through a variety of stores and restaurants. All that to say it was nestled in a very quiet neighborhood. 5 stars across the board and would stay again.

Great property, clean, within walking distance to the main strip on Ocean Ave and Carmel's awesome stores/restaurants. If there's a popular event in Monterey, Carmel area, I could see street parking could be a problem as there's no designated spot for your car(s). The curfew keeps everyone quiet after 9pm'ish, but if the downstairs restaurant is busy, the noise after 9pm is pretty loud with their outdoor seating. Overall - it was a great experience.

One the up side it's a great location, the unit is spacious and the folks at Sanctuary were pleasant and responsive. On the down side....the shower window is boarded up with a piece of plywood, the bathroom sink has zero water pressure, the bed linens were visibly dirty, bed linens were of very low quality and the only blanket was a cheep fleece, the unit gets very cold at night and heating system is inadequate, WAY too many throw pillows - to the point we had to make a pile in the corner to get them out of the way. I do not recommend this unit as it is.

The facility is conveniently located just blocks from the center of the village. It was clean and nicely appointed with dishes and cookware. However, instead of being a residential complex, the entire first level houses retail businesses. Also the unit is old, water pressure is very low, and the furniture and appliances need updating. The mattress on the main bed is quite worn. It is nearly impossible to heat the second bedroom.

The apartment was ideally located, just on the edge of Carmel. Everything was within easy walking distance, which was great The Village Gem restaurant was excellent.

Feel like a Carmel native in this cute apartment. Only a few blocks to town, surrounded by fantastic restaurants including The Hidden Gem, cousin to the Michelin rated Yaso right next door.
Be on notice - construction across the street begins at 8am and will probably last until January 2023.

This loft was nice with great position to town to make for easy walks. Great to not have to work about parking and can just walk to dinner and enjoy Carmel in the evening.
Parking is a challenge, the 4 spots that are 24 hours can be in high demand. We couldn't get one at first but in the evening after people went home we were able to snag a spot. Otherwise the guest packet mentioned a 24hr lot near by but we didn't have to use it.
The unit was okay, needs some updates, particularly the windows which are old single pane. It was hot in the unit during the day and cold in the morning. They have two tower fans which were essential. Bathroom could use some updates as well.
We turned the heater on in the morning and it smelled like it hadn't been run in a long time and so we had to turn it off.
Most of this property is the location. They have some nice stuff in the unit but just needs some updates to be great. Would recommend this place for the location.

Location is great you can walk to almost everything. Unit needs a little TLC, for instance, it was warm when we went but there is no A/C. So we had to open windows. Problem is, only a few windows opened, the screens (if even there, 2 windows didn’t have them) didn’t fit right or had holes, letting spiders in. Windows were in poor condition, very hard to open and close. Hard to sleep past sunrise in the big room....skylights are great but not when they are in your bedroom. Appreciated having fans around, that helped. Appreciated the cheese/crackers/and wine. Cute place in general in a good location, just needs a little refresh. Wish parking spots were assigned for the unit.

When we arrived at the Pine flat we realized that the flat was only geared to two persons (instead of four as marketed) as the second bedroom is more a small unheated no window storage room than a bedroom. Furthermore, the bathroom is at max 1 star quality (stained shower and very small toilet) and not at all geared to four people. Tableware was not clean. Furthermore, we were deceived about the noise from a construction site right opposite the street which was unbearable. In sum: a complete disappointment not worth half of the price we paid.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 3797 Pine Place. This is a lovely unit and gave us room to spread out a bit. It would be a little tight for two couples since you have to walk through the shared bath to get to the secondary bedroom, but it was perfect for my husband and I to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Our only issue was that the weather was unseasonably warm the first two days of our visit and it was quite warm in the afternoon and early evening. The second day the management company brought us a second fan to help.

We had an amazing stay in this home! The location was right in the middle of the business district which allowed us to walk everywhere. Parking was actually better than we thought as directly around the property is only 2 hours during the day, but overnight you can park right in front, however as we were walking everywhere we parked 2 blocks north of the condo on the same street and left the car there for days at a time. Lots of natural light through the windows, make sure to keep your blinds closed during the day to keep the sunny day heat down, but it cools off nicely at night. Would stay again!

It was great except there was sand all over the floor in an area of the rental near the king bed and also the kitchen garbage can was broken. communicated the sand issue to the management company via text after they texted asking if there were any issues but never heard back. Besides that great rental.

There was no hot water in the kitchen sink, so we could not wash dishes. I notified the property manager and a plumber was sent. He discovered the water heater was broken. This was a known problem because the water was turned off and a towel was placed next to the water heater to absorb any leaks. So I wasted an afternoon that I could have spent with my family at the beach. Also, I had to park 5 blocks away on Saturday afternoon due to lack of parking
