Central walkable location with great access to transit, bike paths, and the city at large. ***OUR STORY*** We rebuilt this, now 120 year old Heritage Gem of a home (well it certainly wasn’t when we bought it) in 2015, to house our small young family, and offer visitors a unique Vancouver experience from our ideally located guest suites. Vancouver has so much to offer and we wanted to offer it all to our guests, from convenience to function to locale with some extra touches, like complimentary Nespresso, our ‘Keys to the Drive’ local business partner program (you’ll be well taken care of as a guest of The Inn On The Drive at these samplings of the best spots on the Drive); and of course, an inspiring, quiet and private refuge to recharge from your city and wilderness adventures. We hope you love living like a local at Grandview House! In-suite private laundry, dishwasher, full cable, Apple TV, Netflix, Super-high-speed Wireless Internet. Private use of outdoor deck and other gardens around the property. ***Neighbourhood street parking is limited and restricted by signage. PLEASE MIND THE SIGNS*** Hosts will meet our guests on arrival and take them through a brief check-in process, and then will be available by message for anything that may come up. We are owner/occupant hosts so we are usually available to our guests with a little notice, or one of us will be able to respond immediately in an emergency. We allow our guests to dictate the level of interaction but we are always around and will check in with our guests periodically, as well as inevitably bump into them outside on the property from time to time. We are a friendly, laid back family that enjoy hosting and meeting new people and are always happy to help our guests get the most out of their stay with us. Vancouver's most diverse neighbourhood, Commercial Drive offers the widest range of culinary and cultural experiences available in the city! And, it's literally steps outside your door! Live entertainment, festivals, parades, arts, community, savory eats, café treats, and beautiful streets - lush gardens and some of the city's most historic architecture are what this eclectic neighbourhood represent. Many restaurants and cafes double as intimate live entertainment venues in the evenings, in addition to the many cultural centres and theatres offering up excellent live performing art shows year round. Your hosts are very familiar with all that is offered on and off 'The Drive' and enjoy sharing our favourite spots with our guests. Getting around town is very easy from here. You are centrally located with unbeatable access to transit that will get you pretty much anywhere in the city in 10-25 minutes. The bus stop is 50 meters away, from which is a 5 minute ride to the train; or you can just walk the 10-15 minute walk to the train. Downtown Vancouver is a 5-10 minute train ride (depending which station), and hosts most of the cities most popular attractions, beaches, and the famed Seawall that circumnavigates Stanley Park and the entire Vancouver Downtown Peninsula. Grab a shared bike from MOBI (RECOMMENDED - there’s a bike kiosk 100 meters from us) and take the scenic route along the many bike paths that lead to breathtaking vistas. Please note this is one of 4 separate suites on the property, but all have private guest entrances. Although we insulated each unit for sound in our 2015 renovation, there is inevitably some noise transfer between the units from time to time. Please look at our other listings, The Mosaic Suite and the Patio Suite for larger families needing to extend their space. The Mosaic Suite is a similar design 1 bedroom unit in the same building; sleeps 4. The Patio Suite is a much larger 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom unit in the same building; sleeps 6-8. Recycling, as directed by provided in-suite instruction, is required by law in Vancouver. Sorting fee of $50 will apply if recycling is not sorted to proper bins. Street parking is limited and in some areas restricted by sign. PLEASE MIND THE SIGNS. ***Note*** GST tax is collected as "management fee" since there is no tax option. We are required to collect and submit 5% tax under GST#812655934 1) Respect quiet time hours: 11 pm to 7 am; no loud music, no loud voices, no guests / gatherings that produce loud noise. 2) Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on the property. 3) Sorting of all recyclables and organics in appropriate bins is mandatory; failure to sort will result in a $50 sorting fee. 5) Only guests approved at booking, or subsequently with the owners in advance, are permitted to stay in the rented unit. 6) Guests will take care in preserving the unit, keeping clean and notifying owners of any problems or deficiencies immediately. 7) Pets considered when notified in advance. Had a great stay here, absolutely zero complaints. Thank you to the host for an all around great experience!

I booked 7 nights for myself and my four young kids (ages 3-8) with my husband joining for three nights (which I cleared with the host before our trip). Check in was disorganized and unsecure - the host requested I call his cell phone and he was unsure which group I was part of, which unit, and if I had kids with me. The unit was just left unlocked for us to enter. On the phone he revealed there was a pool in the yard that we walked through to access our unit. There were no barriers between our unit and the pool and the dear old in the unit door was low enough that even my 3 year old could unlock it. I would never have booked this property had the pool been disclosed prior. After waiting for the host to come by as he said he would, I called VRBO to request help finding alternative accommodations. They have been of absolutely no help. The host became hostile and has accused me of being a scammer looking for a “free upgrade”. Suggested I spend more time “focusing on my family” getting a refund due to the safety issues. Our first night in Vancouver was ruined and I will never book with VRBO again.

Great place to stay. Lots of great restaurants

The appartment and neighborhood were beyond our expectations. We were with our 3yo kid and found a perfect side bed for him.
Thanks

The property is good. But it is more suitable for 2 persons.

The property was in a lovely house in a sweet neighborhood near a commercial area. The host was in a different unit downstairs and he was occasionally accessible but never obtrusive. It was nice to have access to his deep knowledge of the city. The unit that we occupied was good-sized and comfortable. Nothing flashy but all the basics were well-covered.

We were so pleased with this property. Close to many shops. Near our daughter. Laundry in suite. Variety of TV stations and movies. Fully equipped kitchen. Grocery store within two blocks. Shower and bathtub. All linens and towels provided. Will definitely book again on our next trip to Vancouver.

This was the perfect location for us . The place was clean and comfortable.
We highly recommend this place!
Very short walk to many great restaurants around the corner on Commercial Drive and a nice little grocery store for getting snacks!

Great place to stay, parents were able to explore the Commercial Drive Area with ease. Some minor inconveniences: No Soap or Shampoo at time of stay, so my parents had to purchase some at a local store. Getting Keys was somewhat difficult due to delay in communication day of stay. Would be nice to have a better explainer on the Vrbo page on acquiring the keys.

The condo served it’s purpose of providing a place for us to rest after a long day of exploring. Having a washer/drier was very handy. Might be a little small for 3 adults and 1 16yr old, but we made it work. Walking distance to many restaurants, cafes, bus stop and grocery stores.

The place was great and in a wonderful location; however, communication leading up to the reservation was poor. We were sent the address but no information about how to check-in. I attempted communication by phone and through the on-site messaging system a total of 4 times in the 2 days leading up to the reservation, each without a response. We weren't sure if we even had a place to stay, causing a lot of stress. I arrived at the place the day of the reservation 1 hour after check-in. Luckily, the host lives on the property and was present on arrival. The place was not quite ready but I was so relieved the whole thing wasn't a scam that I didn't care. The place itself was great but communication needs improvement.

Great location and comfy apartment
The location near Commercial Drive had everything you could want within short walking distance. Bed and sofa were very comfy. The kitchen is small but so efficiently designed and so much storage, I wish my condo had that kitchen!!! Owner lives in same building so is handy for advice and queries

Compact and comfortable apartment that feels like home from home.
The local area, Commercial Drive, offers many different bars, restaurants and a host of grocery shops. It also is a genuine local area and contrasts nicely with the tourist areas of downtown Vancouver.
Public transport is easy and frequent with the bus stop only 100 yards away, and downtown accessible in 20-30 minutes.
Two negative comments. The apartment overview lists a stereo and dvd but neither exist. In addition the house has undergone recent work and the resulting waste has not yet been removed or tidied. This doesn't help with initial impressions on arrival.

Comfortable, convenient location.
Nice, spacious, clean room, and washer and dryer and fully equipped kitchen are a plus. On a quiet street, but steps from great restaurants and convenient public transportation.

A lovely apartment, excellent location
We loved this place. It's in a really quiet location but just steps from a great stretch of road with coffee shops, bars, organic butchers and food shops and lots of good cafe's and restaurants. The apartment was really clean and comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed for a month. There's floor heating if it gets cold. It's really ideal.
The cycle paths in Vancouver are awesome too and two blocks away down a quiet road is where one of the Vancouver bike routes passes. We rarely needed a car as the bus leaves from 50 feet away on the main road and you can catch it south to the railway station or north directly to the city.
Our only issue - and it's just because we are accustomed to living in a house - is that there's a little noise occasionally from the neighbours in the other flats. I'm sure if you are used to that it won't be a bother and we grew accustomed to it in time.

Great location!
The location is great! Right next to mass transportation (bus), and a short walk to the SkyTrain.
Also right next door to great restaurants, coffee houses (Turk's Coffee House was great!), grocery stores, and supermarket.

Great location on The Drive in a well equipped flat.
We spent a week visiting family and found accommodations more than adequate. Nice having laundry onsite and any food imaginable within walking distance.
If you are in the coffee culture there are numerous excellent spots Moja and Prado were amongst our favorite spots to start the day. Good Italian half a block away at Marcellos'.

Nice clean property with space enough for 3 people.
Nice apartment with plenty of crockery, bedlinen, towels etc. close to bus stop for Downtown/Victoria and 10 minute walk to Skytrain which we did every day. Robert and Kara were very helpful with a few minor issues we had which they sorted out quickly for us, Robert also printed off directions for us and Kara directed us to the best local supermarket they were very helpful as we had never been to Vancouver before which we really appreciated. Although the apartment is in a lovely streetand not far from Commercial Drive we didn't hear any noise from the main road once we were inside the apartment which surprised us as Commercial Drive has lots of restaurants and bars. Thank you Robert and Kara for a lovely place to stay and for your help during our stay.

Clean, well equipped, bachelor plus apartment was outstanding and the location was awesome!
The property included in unit laundry which was super convenient and the full kitchen provided us the ability to do a many meals as we wanted within the apartment and kept the kids clothes clean. Spartacus Gym was close by and offered very welcoming short term packages, was well equipped and focused on function over form. Granville park is one block over and was a huge hit with the kids. Turks coffee offered exquisite brew and kept us well caffeinated. All and all, the experience was top rate.

We really enjoyed our stay - the apartment was clean, comfortable, with a well-appointed kitchen - bonus - a Nespresso coffee maker!!! I would suggest that placemats or tablecloth be available, as I was worrying about marking the kitchen table. A couple with one child would be comfortable in this apartment. Location is superb! The owner was very helpful and did all possible to make our stay a good one. I would recommend this apartment.

Great location
My wife and I had a pleasant stay during 9 days, the apartment is quiet and clean, it has pretty much everything you might need. It's in a great local, just a few steps from Commercial Drive, where you can find many restaurants, markets, grocery stores, etc. It's very close to Downtown, you can easily take the bus 20 on Commercial Drive or take Skytrain a few blocks down. For those who like biking, it's very easy too.

Comfortable and Convenient
My husband and I spent 4 nights at Robert and Kara's apartment. It is located in their house on a quiet street in a great location. The apartment has a great layout and has everything you need. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to prepare your meals. The bed is extremely comfortable and the bathroom well equipped. A great bonus is the washer and dryer.
The house is a minute away from shops to buy your meal provisions, as well as cafés and restaurants.
The train is about a 10 - 15 min walk, but we used the bus every day to go to the city and other attractions. It is at the top of the street. You can buy books of 10 tickets at some convenience shops or else you need correct money on bus.
I would recommend this place and would stay there again.

Great location, great hosts!
We spent a week in this apartment while in the process of moving our two kids into university. It is the centre point between UBC and SFU and is in a fantastic location. The apartment is quiet and clean, though steps from Commercial Drive, which provides all the amenities imaginable. There are awesome restaurants and a 24 hour grocery store around the corner. The owners are very professional in all their dealings, from emails about bookings to checking in and out. The only possible thing I could suggest that would make it even better would be a small microwave. We would happily return to this location again, and again.

Awesome Accomodations
When we first arrived at our cozy apartment, we parked our car and never used our car again until we were leaving. We were able to get around Vancouver completely by bicycle over the four days we were visiting. For the active individual(s), we would recommend getting around by bicycle provided good weather. This is a great location, close to downtown (~12-20 minute bike ride depending on where you want to go) and a mere 1/2 blocks from Commercial Drive. The owners are very warm and helpful with any information or needs you may have. The apartment itself is well-appointed with w/d, full kitchen & dishwasher. We could have easily stayed for a couple of months. BTW- the bed is so comfortable, I had to look at the tag to see what we were sleeping on. My only gripe- I'm not as happy with my own mattress that I sleep on at home! When I return to Vancouver, I would definitely choose this place again.

Great location, very comfortable
Although only a few doors down from Vancouver's busy Commercial Drive, this apartment was so quiet it was almost like being in a suburb. Everything inside is very neat and up to date. It took me a few minutes to figure out the Nespresso espresso machine, but once I did I was very happy with it. There is no air conditioning, but when we were there the nights were cool and dry, so leaving the windows open worked just fine. The WiFi worked just fine, the kitchen and bathroom were well-equipped, and the washer and dryer were a godsend. We didn't watch television, but there appeared to be a wide variety of channels. The bed was large and very comfortable.
The little deck in front was nice once the sun went down.
We arrived absurdly late (train from Seattle was delayed two hours!) but Robert was very understanding and was there to meet us when we got out of the cab at 1 am. If we visit Vancouver again, this will definitely be at the top of our list.

A wonderful, comfortable suite with gracious hosts
My wife and I stayed in this lovely suite from 4/6 to 4/12/2015 while visiting our son and his family, and we were very pleased with our entire experience. Robert and Kara were there to greet us and to point out all the amenities in this beautifully renovated suite which included brand new kitchen and bathroom, washer/dryer, very comfortable bed and furniture, radiant heat floors, and even a back deck. Although the property is only two doors from lively Commercial Drive, it was very quiet and peaceful.
Which brings us to location. Commercial Drive is a very friendly, eclectic area of Vancouver with a great mix of shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Treat yourself to anything from fine dining to designer pizza or shop in the local grocers to cook a great meal in your new kitchen. Walk a block to Grandview Park with its playground, open areas, and even a bike polo court. The Sky Train is within walking distance as well as many interesting shops and entertainment spots.
To wrap up, Robert and Kara have created a beautiful, comfortable place to stay in a vibrant area of town, and they are friendly and attentive hosts. We definitely recommend this suite to visitors to Vancouver, and will happily stay here again.
