About this house rental
Located in Saint George Island, this attractive house for $409 per night is a great option for your next vacation. Beginning with January 1, 2022, Carapace will no longer be able to host pets. If you have questions please email us. Carapace books 7 day minimum stay, Saturday to Saturday. 'Carapace' is the perfect Old Florida beachfront cottage with white sandy beach right on the gorgeous blue-green waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Carapace offers expansive beachfront gulf views from living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom and sun deck. Great place to enjoy unspoiled beaches and gulf breezes. Take a short stroll down the uncrowded beach or sit at water's edge. It's 'Old Florida' the way it should be - a beautiful natural setting unblemished by crowds and high-rise development. Just take a deep breath and reeelaaax. The natural environment here supports many plant and animal species you will enjoy seeing - blue,fiddler, and hermit crabs; many fish, dolphins, sea turtles, tarpon, manatee, eagles, osprey, and many other sea birds-snowy plovers, least terns. Eco-tours are available on the island for guided sight-seeing, if you like. Or you can strike out on your own for a private adventure. Watch beautiful sunrises and sunsets from the deck. As darkness falls, you are treated to a magnificent display of starry constellations without the distraction of bright city lights. Many nights you can see the lights from local shrimp boats on the horizon. To support a sustainable healthy environment we participate in 'eco-lodging' practices at Carapace. Great floor plan: Open living area and master bedroom open to beachside sun deck, covered parking, hot-and-cold outdoor shower, large picnic table and park style charcoal grill for family cookouts. 3 Br, 2ba with one king bed in MR w/ private bath, one double bed, two twins-these 2 bedrooms open onto central hall with shared bath - linens provided. Ideal for 2 - 6 guests. 3 TVs, 1 Blu-Ray player, CD player, WiFi, and free long distance phone calls (in USA). Equipped kitchen, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, initial stock of paper products provided. Sorry, we do not provide beach gear other than what items are stored inside the laundry room down below. This is based on the honor system and is a compilation of items left behind from previous guests - please wash and put back for the next guests use. If an item is deemed not useable please contact us or sit it to the side and we will remove it. Pets are not allowed. Smoking is not allowed at Carapace. This is a family oriented destination. No vacationing students or young adults (

Truly a wonderful cottage, that is obviously loved by the owner. Special attention has been given to this well maintained and very clean home. Layout is wonderful for spending the day on the front porch or walking 50 feet to get your feet in the sand! My wife and I have stayed in ocean/gulf front homes from NC to Florida and this house goes to the top 3 best experiences we've had. Nothing fancy here, but everything you need and more. The furniture is very comfortable including the king size bed in the front bedroom. The chef will not be disappointed with all the cooking utensils and spacious kitchen that has more than ample counter space. If you want a hot tub, jacuzzi, or swimming pool this is not the place for you. If you want an especially quiet beach house, with fantastic views, and a home away from home, then you have found the perfect spot. We truly enjoyed our time at Carapace.

The house is right on the beach. We watched the sunrise from the deck and the starry sky at night. The kitchen is well stocked. Some of our family camped and they came over and enjoyed the beach at our place during the day. We had a lovely week at Caraplace!

We chose this property based on the description and so glad we did. It is not fancy if you are looking for that but it is nice and comfy. Loved the location and the house fit our needs perfectly. We very much enjoyed our stay and owner was great!

My family stayed at Carapace in August. The location is excellent and it feels like your on your own private beach! The house appears exactly as advertised. No fancy frills but we had everything we needed. Bruce was kind and so easy to work with. I would definitely stay here again!

Tranquilizing Beauty
Bruce is a delightful host. The house was neat, tidy, and easy to use. And, the beachfront views were simply tranquilizing in their beauty. From early morning shell seeking, to afternoon "plunges" into the Gulf, our family loved every minute and returned home refreshed, relaxed, and ready to face the opportunities ahead in the new year. Thank you is an understatement.

Bruce is a pleasure to work with. Love this home inside and out. Views are the best on the Island in my opinion. House is very comfortable with all the glass in the front of home ocean view is always available, inside or outside.

Very accurate description with everything we needed. Kitchen
well equipped. Due to some of our ages we could have used a ramp, but we managed. Weather was not terrific but the house had enough to keep us occupied and happy.

Pure bliss
The property is as described, only better. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. There are special touches in every room. The king size bed was very comfortable. The view from the deck was the perfect place for morning coffee and dolphin watching. We also enjoyed sitting under the house in the evening out of the sun. It also has a great view of the water and beach. Bruce even checked on us during the mild storms that blew through.
Less than 100 steps to the beach, a beautiful, comfortable house what more you ask for?

The house is very clean and tidy and well stocked for a rental house!! There wasn’t a thing missing. I even inquired about a sun tea pitcher and Bruce brought one over before we arrived! The view was purely amazing and we even saw dolphins nearly every morning! It was delightful to have coffee outside on the deck before the day started! It was everything we needed! We would definitely come back! Zero complaints whatsoever!!

A Touch of Paradise!
My family spent a week at this home, and we loved it! The owners are very nice, the house is very clean with no bugs, and the views of the ocean are amazing. If you need a week to relax and enjoy the ocean, this is the home and location for you. We will consider renting this home again in the future!

We had a great time staying here. The property is as described and the pictures are accurate. Great location away from the town center. We needed to contact the property management about a couple of things (cracked coffee pot, short on wash cloths, broken vaccum cleaner) and the response from them was slow. Other than that we had no problems and everything else in the house worked great. We are disappointed that starting in 2022 that no pets will be allowed, otherwise we would stay here again.
