Disappointing

The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Staff were friendly.

The air-conditioning/heating did not work, the restaurant was closed, we had no hot water on the second morning because the staff did not know how to work the heating. Breakfast was not great quality, the hash browns were still ice cold from the freezer and my black pudding was almost raw.

We left without spending the night it was that bad, i would recommend to book somewhere else

On arrival after a long day we were told that they wouldn't serve any food today which was a shock as we hadb't eaten all day, and the answer to our question if there was anywhere in walking distance to eat, we were told 'no, its cold outside!!' The room itself was filthy and the bathroom so botched together with wood pannels and screws that is was almost unusable, no central heating, every wall wall marked or dirty with cobwebs in every room corner and hair in the bed. Staff was walking around without masks in torn jeans and smoked at the end of the corridor. We ask for our money back only to be told to take the issue up with booking.com. When we returned home and requested a refund we were denied and told we shoul have resolved the issue at the time with the hotel. We even got charged for the breakfast the next day when we not even stayed the night. Absolutely disgraceful and should not be allowed to call itself a hotel.

Good location but a tired hotel in need of work.

Good location and easy place to stay just off the motorway, large room with comfy beds. Friendly staff and plenty of parking.

The room looked tired with a crack in the sink, skirting boards in need of repair and all areas looked in need of a good paint and spruce up. Breakfast was ok but I asked for mushrooms and got served 3, these were clearly from a tin. Fair selection of food at breakfast and good value for money.

Baltic but friendly

friendly and helpful staff bed was comfortable spacious room

It was freezing! we had 1 electric heater in the corner of the room. It didn’t heat anything at all! I didn’t sleep due to the amount of shivering. people were sat in coats, scarves and hats while eating breakfast. All making a comment about the temperature. the shower was completely pointless. radiators required or electric heaters that actually do the job! the price of the room did not reflect how uncomfortable the room would be.

Beware

One member of staff running the whole place was helpful

I have been ripped off . I called a couple of days in advance to cancel one room due to Covid and as per the booking.com policy. On arrival found I have been charged for 2 rooms.even though the helpful guy on reception said should be easily resolved by dropping an email to the hotel providing booking details. They say it's my fault , but clearly not and will not refund. Yet they communicated now one room booked but because they didn't write cancellation on the updated email I was sent that it's my problem .. There is no evening restaurant and breakfast is an £10 extra and deep fried... i was also offered an upgrade in advance from the Regency Hotel but were reticent to honour this also could not get water to run hot in shower and room was cool..think very carefully before you book

location very convenient for me to access work

no lighting in car park, given noisy room over the kitchen, humming noise from extractor fan. Room was cold on arrival, lamps did not work paint flaking off walls above tv

I would not stay here again.

Room was good. Shower was stuck on boiling hot. Could not be used. Bath was okay. The hotel did not provide breakfast or evening meals. The hotel had no staff. No atmosphere. The hotel was deserted on firs night, More people the second night. I would not stay here again.

More staff. Better facilities.

Crap!!

The only saving grace was Aggie & Karen. Other than that there was absolutely no customer service. We have stayed here over the past seven years & this was unbelievably by far the worst!!!!

Bad

My female colleague had to change rooms on the first night because no hot water. On her third night she was woken late at night by banging on her door. When the banging didn't stop she had to open the door and was confronted by two men. They did not identify themselves as staff members. They wanted to know her details and why she was in the room. Totally shocking conduct. My colleague was very scared and intimated by the incident. We checked out the following morning. Senior management at the hotel have sent me a response are passing this incident off. They do not see how serious it is as woman on her own to be confronted late at night by two men who did not identify themselves as working at the hotel. The senior management have accused myself and my colleague of lying about the details.

Not the worst we have stayed in but won't be back

Size of the bed, comfortable. No daily service. Had to ask for towels and extra pillows to have 2 each. Paid for breakfast for all 3 days and only got cooked on 2

Cleanliness was lacking. Spiders webs and dead spiders on curtains and in dining room. Shower wouldn't turn down, but staff sorted it whilst we were out once reported

Many shortcomings, but probably value for money

The staff I saw were very helpful, the room was spotlessly clean. The room was large and well appointed. The bathroom had a shower and a bath. There was a large wall mounted TV with a good choice of channels. The room was really quiet and no disturbance at all during the night

The room was very cold. AC didn't work, and 2 electric heaters were in the room on arrival, one switched on but not working, the other switched off. Staff readily replaced the faulty heater and I made sure that both were turned on. External walls of the room had flaking plaster from damp, 4 lights (including both bedside lights) were not working, bathroom sink was blocked and drained extremely slowly. water was lukewarm for a shower or bath, water pressure for shower was more a dribble than a shower. Went downstairs for a meal - no catering due to maintenance. They couldn't even offer a bag of crisps or peanuts because of delivery problems. Was told there was only 1 pub locally, and a certain chicken fast food outlet. the pub was packed, so opted for the fast food option. big mistake but that is not the purpose of this review. Went back to the room which was still bitterly cold despite both "heaters" having been on for 2-3 hours. went to bed to get warm. In the morning the room was still cold, despite the additional heating having been on for over 12 hours. I didn't stay for breakfast, so can't review that. Would I stay again? if the heating and plumbing is fixed, yes

Disappointed

The bed was comfortable .

The size of the room was disappointing , after i paid the extra to upgrade to a bigger room with view . There was only one pillow per person on the bed which was very flat . There were no glasses and when we asked for glasses they were dirty . The shower on the morning of leaving was cold and my girlfriend had to use a different room on a different floor which was still dirty from the previous occupants so she could have a hot shower . The restaurant was not open on the saturday night so we had to go out and try and find somewhere to eat . The room was not clean and had cobwebs and hairs . On arrival we were not told any information about the restaurant being closed and what time breakfast was and did not know what the wi-fi code was . There was no welcome book in the room .

Cheap. Take your own loo paper!

The room was large and comfortable and generally clean.

Bathroom had no loo paper or toiletries - this seems like a pretty basic thing that should be got right. The double bed only had two thin pillows - thankfully I was staying on my own so could use both. I wasn't sure if the bar was open or not. Nobody seemed to be serving so I assumed not. The heating was broken so a small electric heater was provided, which seemed like a recipe for disaster in terms of fire safety particularly as it had been positioned right up against a curtain.

Rubbish, do not waste your money here

Nothing. Very poor experience; shower facilties broken.

Only one staff member present. No hot water on the first day, supposedly fixed that afternoon but when I tried it in the evening it flips sporadically from ice cold to burning hot, so essentially unusable. Same issue with the shower the next morning, so I had to go home to get a proper shower. No refresh of complementary tea/coffee etc. on the second day. Joke of a hotel, I want my money back.

The room was clean.

The breakfasts were cold and so many items not available. I also couldn't get through on the telephone to cancel our second night and breakfast the following morning, so sent an email but still had no response. Absolutely disgusting, I want a refund.

Comfortable for overnight stay.

Room was a good size. Room was clean & bed comfortable. If you asked for anything you were missing, it was provided.

Needed more than 1 pillow. Had to ask for more tea/coffee/milk for 2nd night as was not replenished. Had to ask for soap/handwash as was not in bathroom.

My overall experience was below average. I would not recommend this hotel.

The staff at Reception were polite and friendly. My room was clean, bed was clean and comfortable.

Buffet Breakfast was a disaster even though I was offered 2 fresh eggs. Everything was overcooked and stale. The bread was awful. Definitely not worth the 10 Pound charge. Staff wore outside clothing, anorak, jeans, etc. not the type of clothing one would expect from Hotel Staff. Except for my room, the overall temperature in the hotel was a little too cool.

Breakfast could have been better organised.

Room was Clean, tidy and well equipped.

Breakfast could have been much better organised. Settled for a cup of instant coffee and a bowl of Coco Pops for 10 quid. Not a huge problem as the company were paying and there is a Starbucks nearby.

Very good

Bed was very comfortable. Plenty of parking.

Other guests were very noisy. Travelogue put " shoosh" signs on every door. Help keep noise down. Lack of heating though the staff did provide a stand alone heater. Very nice. Water not hot just warm.

Great hotel - but bathroom was not functioning properly

Clean, comfortable, good value, nice room

Shower was covered in sellotape to try to stop a leak. Had to get up a couple of times in the night when it got worse and disturbed me. As I couldn't use the shower in the morning I had a bath - with cold water from the shower leak dripping on to me. Then found the bath plug wouldn't come out.
