The location is very nice, apart from the noise from the nearby train track. It was interesting to read about the history of the hotel too and its connection to the original train station.
We only had breakfast as a meal during our stay, which was very nice. Cooked fresh to order, ample tea and coffee etc.
Our room was quite small but had everything we needed for a one night stay. The bed was very clean and comfortable, although my husband had the wall one side of him so would have to climb over me to get out in the night if he needed to.
All the staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful.
The noise from the passing trains was distracting to begin with, although they stopped running during the night, they started early in the morning so noisy if you have the window open for fresh air. Very little can be done about this but just a point to note.
As the room was quite small, the double bed was pushed to one side next to the wall, so difficult to get out of bed in the night if needed without disturbing your other half.
We were given soya milk for the refreshments in our room. I think this is a personal choice which wouldn't have been one of mine so I would have preferred the usual UHT mini milks that are usually provided. For one night it didn't have a big impact, just a point to note not everyone likes soya milk so an alternative option would have been nice.

Really nice building inside and out
The room was hot and we had to have the window open. This meant the passing trains were noisy

Room was clean and a decent size with the usual facilities.
Breakfast was good with quality bacon and sausage, though the coffee could have been better.
The mattress and the pillows were incredibly firm and, as such, uncomfortable which made for a very poor night's sleep.
The frequent trains passing directly opposite the inn were noticeable, even with the earplugs that we always use when travelling; though we may have slept through them if the bed had been more comfortable.
Towel holder in the bathroom was almost falling off. A simple fix and one that staff cannot have failed to notice.
The television on the room switched itself on during the night! I know, that is a new one on me too. :-)
