We have stayed at Jumeirah Beach Hotel for two consecutive years previously, and both stays were fantastic. The service has always been excellent, and the hotel has a great range of amenities and facilities for families. The location is also fantastic, and we have always felt that the hotel provided a high-quality holiday experience.
The reason we chose to return for a third year was because of how impressed we had been with our previous stays. We genuinely had very high expectations based on our past experiences.
Unfortunately, this year was a very different experience and was extremely disappointing compared with our previous stays.
A large majority of the amenities were closed, including many of the terraces, and Wild Wadi was closed during our stay. We were only informed about these closures one week before we travelled. At that point, it was far too late to realistically make alternative arrangements or change our holiday plans.
This had a particularly negative impact on our children, who were very disappointed by the lack of activities available. In previous years, the hotel had also offered a day trip to a theme park, which was another great experience for the family, but this was also unavailable this year.
The biggest frustration was that, despite so many facilities and activities being unavailable, we were charged essentially the same price as our previous stays. We understand that maintenance and closures can happen, but when such a significant number of facilities are unavailable, guests should be informed well in advance and the price should, in our opinion, reflect the reduced experience.
Having stayed here twice before, we know what an incredible property Jumeirah Beach Hotel can be. That is what made this year’s experience even more disappointing. Had we been given proper notice well in advance, we could have considered other options, but receiving this information just one week before travelling left us with very little choice.
Overall, we were disappointed that the experience this year did not come close to the standard we had enjoyed in the previous two years. We hope the management takes this feedback seriously, particularly around communication of major facility closures and ensuring guests receive appropriate value when significant amenities are unavailable.
