Exceptional

Check-in/out were easy, the staff were polite and helpful, the room was clean with all necessary amenities, and the breakfast provided with our room cost was very good! The town also has a grocery store and great restaurants; it's a fun place to explore on its own!

This hotel is very unreliable. Very limited service. Room cold. Shower cold.

The breakfast was fine and the beds were ok. The building is beautiful and the foyer is very impressive.

I arrived around two. I was checking in and happened to be the one responsible for the booking a room there for a relative but I was not allowed to check-in on their behalf. They were in Stykkishólmur at a family reunion and had to either drive all the way back and forth, just for the key, or leave the festivities around nine to get to the hotel before check-in closed. But I was there and could have saved them the trouble. This inflexibility was perplexing. Also, the person working there at the check-in desk spoke very limited English and didn´t understand much (and no Icelandic too, of course). Most of the staff were friendly, though, but the hotel experience was mainly disappointing. So many things: There was no wi-fi signal in the room, the showers did not work because there was no hot water (and the room did not heat up properly either). And, one more thing, no matter how many times we phoned the hotel to get information there was nobody answering. We tried many times, the day before we arrived, two days before arrival and also the day we arrived. This is ridiculous!!

We would stay here again

Great location with just a short walk to see the mountain around the bend. Our room had a limited view of Kirkjufell. We were able to walk to a nice diner just a block down the street for dinner.

Room was small, but cozy.

clean, location and free breakfast were key!

nice staff. free breakfast was a big plus. location is awesome. reasonable price.

TV and cable didn’t work. need detailed instructions on how to work the TV. rooms felt a bit dated.

Location is the best and we had a comfortable stay

Location is the best and very close to Kirkjufell mountain and waterfalls. Breakfast was decent and the staff was very friendly. Harbour cafe at the end of the street was opened till 10pm and we had delicious veg pizza.

The room and bathroom was small in size

Rooms were beautiful and the hotel was very charming. Good breakfast selection especially with 2 teenagers along. Staff was very nice and helpful when I asked for additional items.

Superb

During my stay in Iceland I’ve used 6 different hotels around Iceland and this is the best one, its very cozy and gave me the feeling of being home, location is good next to main attractions Kirkjufell and staff is the best, I forgot a small bag in my room and they deliver it next day to Reykjavík free of charge, Highly recommended.

could have been better

the view from the hotel is very nice

they gave us a twin room for the first night, while we booked a double room for two nights also they forced us to move to another room very late at night to have the main room we booked (double room) it was exhausting after a long day

Nice place to stay for 1 night

We loved the room, very confortable, and the staff, who were lovely and really helpful. The sitting room was very nice, too

The breakfast is too basic for the price, the views are not very beautiful, there are no hangers in the room, not even in the bathroom!

Good Stay but Tired Hotel

The manager was very helpful and came back to the hotel when we were locked out of our room. The location is fantastic.

The building exterior and bedroom desperately need maintenance and redecoration. The bathroom was so cramped that I couldn't stand at the sink without leaning slightly to one side. The choice at breakfast was limited.

Location is awesome. Near kirkufell and the falls. In a small town, so it is walking distance from everything.

Staff was nice until we had a problem. We had booked a king room. They gave us a room that had not been cleaned that was on the second floor. Then, they gave us a smaller room. In the middle of night a stench was coming from the bathroom. It was a sewage smell. When we complained in the morning the staff was rude and when I told them I was going to leave a bad review, they told booking.com that we did not stay there. Bad behavior!
