Location was convenient to Haneda Airport especially after a long travel day. The location was clean with a great view of harbor and offers a delicious breakfast with tons of options.

Location is good right on the bay. Walking distance to the shopping malls and eating places. Room is quite spacious for Japanese standard hotel.

Location of hotel is good. The city view from my room is fantastic.
(a)The "non Japanese front desk staff" are not very courteous. I wonder if this is a training issue? I visited Japan over 50 times and this front desk experience rank the bottom among my stays. Even a business inn in a small town has more courteous staff.
(b)Sofa in my room is in bad condition. The cushion is sagged/deformed. The fabric is frayed/torn and worn. Maybe this is the original sofa from when the hotel was first built in the 90s. Seats on my JR train next morning are in better condition. For my stay, I avoided sitting on my room's sofa all together.
In summary, the overall experience is not expected from a hotel carrying the "Intercontinental badge". In the past 12 months, I visited Intercontinental properties both in Europe and in South America, and both properties are far superior than the Yokohama Intercontinental. This is unfortunate for a property with such good location.
